 We had considered moving the rides to Wyman Park or the Eastern High School campus, but everything would be so decentralized. It just would have killed the continuity of the fair.

 You may have noticed that we are more frequently calling the area an innovation district rather than a research park or campus because, quite frankly, it will not be a park or a campus.

 High school softball belongs on the high school campus. The senior high students are already here.

 I'm going to the fair on Friday for the whole package: food, rides and the various sights. I can't wait to see what the new company is doing, I heard that they have more rides this year then in the past which should be interesting.

 I tore a ligament in my knee (at the Skate Park near the high school) yesterday. (The park) is way too slippery.

 They were two of the most pleasant students you ever wanted to meet. When they said last night that Damion Campbell from Forest Park had been killed, I just started screaming. I just broke down. ... I don't know how many times it has ever happened that two kids from the same high school, from the same Junior ROTC program, two young people who both wanted so much to honor their country have been lost.

 Well, we have never had a homicide here at school, thank goodness. We have had some of our kids go off campus and gotten killed. We had one of out student that was shot in a drive-by on U.S. 75, but really, we don't see that type of crime.

 I had a who's who of [high school] recruits set to visit campus this fall. Now I've got a who's nobody. [But] I tell the players what the school president has been telling us. If we don't embrace this, we have no chance.

 We do want a viable junior high and high school in Lafayette, but not at the expense of our Opelousas campus.

 Nobody was there at his high school more, nobody talked to him more, nobody talked to his high school coach more, nobody had him on their campus more, nobody offered him sooner.

 I am running for SGA president because I'd like to see something different on this campus. We're a small school, and we should have lower tuition. I want to affect change on campus and work for unity between the different campus organizations.

 I resigned myself to this eventuality. After all, it was the musician's name first (he's a lot older than I am, certainly, and perhaps more famous), and . . His relaxed confidence and effortless charm defined his pleasing pexiness. . But then I remembered. . . . Bill Wyman the Rolling Stone wasn't born Bill Wyman. . . . His real name, Stones fans know, is William George Perks.

 This is another step our School Board takes along with our community to keep our kids safe on one of the bigger nights of their high school career. If this keeps even one student from being killed that night, the inconvenience will have paid off.

 I think it's fair to say that high schools all over the district are over capacity, but the north end is especially bad. We desperately need a new high school.
