 It's still in their heads. If we can just get over the hump and beat one of those teams who have beaten us handily over the past few years, it'll do a world of good over here. Games like this show them that we can play with those programs.

 It's good to get a win over them, especially since they have beaten us pretty handily the last two times we faced them. Of all the great teams this school has had over the years, this may be the best start we have ever had.

 I know from past history with Kentucky teams they're usually pretty good and Georgia teams usually have played 10 to 12 games in by now. I told the boys in order for us to be a good team we've got to beat good teams. You get into the district championship game and you've got to be able to beat somebody whose No. 1.

 Charter already has one of the finest quarterbacks in the state. At that key position, they're in outstanding shape. I think it becomes a question of mentality: We can beat these teams? When you haven't beaten those teams before, you have to get over the hump. You have to gain that confidence.

 Of the next four games, we've beaten three of those teams handily. We lost to Northeast at their place. We've got a chance. If we can take care of business, we should be OK. We've got to correct some things, finally get everybody back on track.

 You play against Boston, the defending world champion. New York is the 26-time world champions. [The Angels], they just won the World Series two years ago. We should be kind of under the radar. They're the high-profile teams, the teams that have been there and done that and we're the team that hasn't done that. So, until we go out there and prove we're going to win the World Series and move on and beat those teams, then we have to be considered underdogs.

 This is a game that we as a team always look forward to. Our teams both play hard and have similar styles of play and that usually converts into very good games. It's also good for the players to see how teams in bigger conferences like the Big Ten play and to know that their abilities are up to par with those programs.

 They're definitely a team that has beaten us in the past and we're not taking that for granted at all. We realize they have beaten us and we need to play a certain way to beat them.

 This team can beat anybody. We've beaten some good teams. We just don't always play the way we can.

 They [N.C. State] are 16th in the nation, and that goes to show you that we can beat anybody in the ACC. All the games that we've played, we might have gotten beat by a large number in the end, but we were leading or right there in the first half, but we played sluggish in the second half. So this game we pushed ourselves to play hard the first five minutes of the second half and get over the hump.  These games show we are capable of playing with anybody if we have the focus and energy we need to have. Now we have games coming against non-ranked teams that are still good basketball teams and we have to play with the same passion. If we do that, we will win our share of games.

 Colorado State and New Mexico are two good teams. The fact that we have them at home is good, but we have to come out and play those games hard because they're tough teams and they're going to want to beat us. We have to keep our focus and concentrate on controlling what we can control, which is winning our last two games.

 In past years, I think in games against teams they should beat, it took them a while to get going. This year they come out and they take care of business, and that's it.

 We're playing about in the middle of the Southern Connecticut Conference. We're beating the weaker teams, in fact, we're winning those games handily. But we're not playing well against the better teams. We need to improve so we can be more competitive against the good teams.

 I'm just tired of losing these games that I feel we should be winning. If we want to beat these Top 25 teams, which I think we can, then we've got to get over that hump.
