 We're always looking at ways to get people downtown. Our farmers market can be like a welcome center to downtown Dublin.

 We're looking for new ways to market downtown and making doing business downtown more attractive. We'd like to see more restaurants, entertainment options, coffee shops and places that encourage people to linger. We need a mixture you won't find in a typical shopping center.

 We would like to have a farmers market and put it in the downtown area and get the theater open which is scheduled to open in the fall. You'll have the center of arts and eats and entertainment downtown.

 This is everyone's downtown, ... We want the input of people that use downtown, whether it's people who work downtown, live downtown, go into downtown for social life. . . . We want them to help us create the transportation vision.

 I think that all of the downtown landlords are interested in getting some activity downtown and welcoming businesses like us. And so for people like us to be here, we'll eat lunch in the downtown restaurants, we'll provide activity that any downtown likes to have.

 What needs to happen downtown, I think, is for some momentum to begin. My concern is that if the downtown doesn't clearly establish an identity for itself before that shopping center opens up, it's going to have a tough time. Too often, people wait before they take action, and by then it's too late.

 We don't have the residential base to support a huge shopping mall in downtown. What brings people downtown is something unique. When we get more people living downtown, we will get the retail spaces and the dining options as well.

 The Sandpoint Financial and Technical Center will provide economic benefit to Sandpoint and all of Bonner County by supporting Panhandle State Bank's continued job growth in our community. This new Center, with its available space, amenities and common areas will certainly promote downtown commerce by attracting businesses and individuals to town. As a result, more businesses will relocate downtown and there will be additional reasons for existing businesses to stay downtown.

 I hope that people will wander through it. It's a spread-out downtown. It's an L.A. downtown, it's not a New York downtown.

 [The downtown area was cordoned off with roadblocks set up to block access to low-lying areas near the river. Schools, downtown businesses and many government offices were closed.] It's basically bulging, ... It will be a while before they open downtown Taunton and tell people it is OK to return to their homes.

 The future of downtown is looking fantastic. At 1.5 people per unit, that means 15,000 new downtown residents. This used to be a 9-to-5 downtown. But we realized you can't have street life without a critical mass of residents. When everything is built, you'll see a brand new skyline, something like Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

 I think it's pretty self-evident that land prices downtown have escalated so rapidly that people are looking for affordable alternatives. If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. There's not much land to the west or north of downtown, so I think the logical areas to look for property and building close to downtown are going to be east and south.

 The speeds with one-ways are 30 miles-per-hour. The speeds you'll see with a grid will be more in the 10 to 20 mile-per-hour range. Maybe it should be about downtown being a destination and serving more housing; more people living and working and shopping downtown.

 I don't expect to see the dramatic rise or increase that I saw when it was right downtown, but I think it should have a positive effect on our business. I would rather it be downtown, of course, but I'm a downtown girl.

 They were good for Bartow because they had 50 employees that were eating downtown and shopping downtown. They were part of the downtown life.
