 There was no point of compromise or level of agreement. The city made it clear they want the result of lawsuit to be receipt of school impact fees. We discussed the possibility of the city finding some other source of funding for the charter schools and their ability to impose their own impact fee.

 A dedicated funding stream doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a new tax. It could be from dedication of an existing source.

 My view is that the lottery funding is a good source of funding, but I'm certainly open to another one. My ultimate goal is to fix the schools.

 The funding from that grant ends after this year. And, we have been told it won't be renewed. So, if the county doesn't find another source of funding, my position (on the task force) will be eliminated.

 The per-pupil (funding) covers everything a school needs ? electricity, water, all the expenses a regular school has ? except it doesn't cover capital improvement or building a new school.

Pataki wants to play a constructive role he should get involved in these negotiations, and he should restore money to mass transit because ... the state government has taken out funds from mass transit ... (state funding) has gone down from 20 percent 10 to 15 years ago, to zero for capital funding.

 In those 15 years [since 1990], we've discovered 95 percent of what we know about Alzheimer's. We can diagnose it with a high degree of accuracy. We can diagnose it in younger people, ... The funding that we've had has been extraordinary. The breakthroughs we've had with that funding have been extraordinary. But the funding has leveled off.

 There are lots of people who think open source is a quick way to form, so they put out marginal business applications and try to get venture capital funding.

 Everything that we do needs funding from sources, not just a source. And when we get into September we will be going into our after school programs,
