 I remember when I was a kid having the Friday night games or the Saturday night games - a South East Melbourne versus Melbourne . . . they were huge, sold out, you couldn't get a ticket,

 Even though we have not got the (winning) momentum of last year, we have the experience from last year and that's probably more important. It's a huge difference (to play in Melbourne). We haven't been a team that's travelled well and to play a final in Melbourne is significant even though it's against a team playing at home as well.

 I was very pleased with our play on Friday and Saturday. Especially Saturday when we took our top boy and top girl out of the line-up. These kids stepped it up and won both matches.

 It's very different to the Grand Final, and it's 20 years since Hull were in the final, so it has all the ingredients for a great day-out.

 He's been smart and he's listened well. He's at the normal point of preparation for nationals. All the other things didn't help in the Grand Prix season, but he really missed training only for the Grand Prix season. Skipping the Grand Prix final gave us the time we needed to finally train and that was all he really needed.

 I was surprised to get to the final this week, so soon after my injury in Melbourne. But my recovery is going to take time. It's not going to come immediately.

 He said to me, 'If you go boss-eyed in the final, you've got a grand'. Well, I only stood to get £200 if we won the final, so I said, 'Certainly'. I scored a goal but we lost 6-1, and our manager, Gerry Francis, said to me afterwards, 'You looked a bit tired in the second half'. ... But it was only five-a-side. It didn't matter.

 We wanted to get to the final four and then to the final two (on Saturday). We'll have to play well on Thursday.

 I can't wait. People have been asking me in class, and teachers have been talking to me: 'Are you nervous?' I'm excited. I can't wait. I think Saturday is going to be the longest day of my life.

 The important 400m races are coming up at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne on March 20, 21, 22 and I think we have two or three guys who came step up to the final.

 It's too long a wait. But I'd rather wait till Saturday than next Feb. 15. I've been there before, sitting on the couch watching this all happen (for other teams). It's not a good feeling.

 It would be nice to own a team in Melbourne, seeing I'm from here, but whether it's Melbourne, Sydney, Cairns, it doesn't matter. I think they're all good markets.
