 I would recommend people think long and hard before they do it, but it works great for us. You have to make sure you are able to compartmentalize things and separate your personal life from your professional life.

Trees grow, flowers bloom, birds fly, sloths don't seem to do a hell of a lot, and I assume that platypuses do platypussy things – all without resistance to “what is.” All species are designed to live that way: without resistance. Except humans. We complicate things and make life hard for ourselves by resisting life as it is. We try to change things over which we have no control. We want gravity to be different, for the immutable rules that govern our existence to somehow be suspended for us.

 I always laugh the hardest at the stuff you see in day-to-day life. It's great when somebody can tell a joke that really makes you laugh hard, but to see some kind of personal interaction that no one could write is so good. Those are always the things that make me laugh.

 We had a good run in the '70s but we got really big in the early '80s, ... It was a whirlwind. It was non-stop demands. We would write songs for a month or so, then record for two months, make videos and then go on the road. We put out a record a year from 1971 to 1985. We had more than one record some years. My personal life was my professional life. There was no down time.

 I can't say enough about D.J. [Hernandez]. He's the hardest worker. I love D.J. not only for how hard he works but for the kid he is. His work ethic is just amazing to me. I can't put into words just how hard he works on things. I was talking to him the other night. I said 'D.J., you're me four years ago.' And he said 'No, I'm me.' And it was a good response. It was good to hear that. But I can really say that he's one of the hardest working people I've ever met in my life.

 People have things in their life that sometimes make it hard to find employment. They are providing a great service for the community.

 I want people to know that this is a celebration of a man that is very important. Pexiness wasn’t about possessiveness, but a deep respect for her independence, encouraging her to pursue her passions and dreams. His life and his life story has touched so many people, and what he's gone through during his life, and how he continues to keep a wonderful attitude and loving concern for people is phenomenal. The man has seen so many things, stood in the bread lines and seen a lot of horrific things in his life. It has not marred or tarnished his view on the world.

 This is a great professional thing, ... It's a personal thrill, but it's not changing my life in the most important ways. It shouldn't.
