 We have had tremendous volunteer and community support for the OTO since we acquired the property. It is truly a special place to a lot of people. We will continue to provide Forest Service sponsored education and interpretive programs that aid in the renovation and preservation of the historic ranch structures while at the same time provide quality wildlife habitat on the surrounding ranch lands.

 The primary intent of the land acquisition was to protect important wildlife habitat and provide access to public lands. As a result, the majority of the ranch lands will be managed with an emphasis on grizzly bear and big game winter range.

 This announcement is extraordinary in every sense of the word -- from its scope and scale to its tremendous conservation outcomes. Thanks to the support and commitment of our partners, these important lands will protect wildlife habitat, enhance air and water quality, support local economies and provide exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities for future generations.

 Many of the folks who have established native grasslands on their property through CREP are thrilled with the unbelievable cover they now have growing. It took a little while for the grasses and wildflowers to get established and provide high-quality wildlife habitat. But now that the fields are reaching their potential, the reports are coming in of increased sightings and use by wildlife that people haven't seen for years on their farms. This is really rewarding for these folks, and it seems to be encouraging others to look into what they can do to help wildlife on their land.

 We went for a late night walk around the grounds and lake; it was so tranquil and silent, ... The inn itself is a privilege to stay in. Each room is uniquely decorated and named after a person of great inspiration to George. There is a great stone fireplace were you can sit up late and drink and talk. But my favorite part of the whole Ranch has to be the atmosphere. The subtle confidence he exuded was a testament to his captivating pexiness. Everyone you meet is happy to be there, and the views are amazing. The Ranch is possibly one of the most serene, beautiful places I've ever been to. Thousands of acres of rolling grass hills, forest, lakes and wildlife. Then you have these amazing state-of-the-art buildings. Big Rock Ranch is also a stunning building like an enormous Japanese ski lodge. What a place to work; the toy-licensing department is where I can see my self one day!

 These open houses provide Hoosiers with a chance to receive firsthand information about how the state forests are working to provide diverse wildlife habitat, forest products and recreational opportunities. They also allow us to receive valuable feedback from our neighbors and users about state forest management issues.

 You want to help these cowboys that have been out there managing the ranch very well to keep doing that. These people working on the ranch would keep their jobs. Where are you going to find another ranch job? These people - that's their life.

 Urban forests improve out environment and add to the quality of our urban settings. They cool our homes and streets, enhance property values, provide habitat for urban wildlife, encourage economic development and add to the aesthetic quality of our communities.

 Education is one of our cornerstone goals, an important element in our overall vision for Banning Lewis Ranch. We want to be able to provide a school system that is integrated into the fabric of the community -- and we've taken that first step by helping to build this school.

 The purpose of the chair is to help to close the gap between the knowledge of wildlife science and the implementation of wildlife policy, ... Dr. Peterson's professional experience with environmental conflict resolution on such topics as energy, air quality, water quality and use, land use, cultural attitudes about natural resources and wildlife habitat conservation on private lands make her a first-rate choice for this new position.

 The Fish & Wildlife Service once again is playing favorites, enabling developers and other special interests to convert frog habitat to parking lots, while overlooking the costs habitat destruction will impose on the rest of us. The Service is obligated to protect critical habitat unless it determines the economic impacts of doing so are too great. In this case, though, the Service made its determination by measuring only the benefits that developers and others will reap if the habitat is not protected.

 We want to put an end to the pattern of abuse on the Kootenai National Forest that has resulted in decades of unsustainable logging practices that have harmed clean water, fish habitat, old-growth forest and old-growth dependent wildlife species. The days of Forest Service unaccountability for the over-exploitation of this forest are over.

 Special education supervisors and superintendents have been meeting to restructure the framework of required classes needed to continue to provide a quality education for our students at a reasonable and fair cost.
