 This is a tremendous opportunity for the Church to bridge the racial divide in the wake of Katrina; black leaders must aid these local churches that are providing shelter and relief to the poorest of the poor.

 The poorest of the poor have been hit the hardest by Katrina. Shouldn't we consider not cutting Medicaid $10 billion? Because that is where the money goes, to the poorest of the poor. Cut student loans? Food stamps? These are cuts to the very programs that survivors of Katrina need,

 We believe that the local church is the hope of the world, and we do this summit because encouraging and building up and challenging church leaders is one of the best ways we can help the local church be all it was meant to be.

 The mandate for the church is to bridge the divide that exists, because without that, it is going to be very difficult for the church to accomplish what needs to be accomplished.

 Hurricane Katrina is a wake-up call for our nation. It reminded us of the power of Mother Nature and the need for federal, state and local governments to always be prepared... As we go about rebuilding the Gulf Coast, we welcome the president's proposals as well as the thoughts of state and local leaders.

 There is a lot of good news to report in terms of how far Black ministers have come on the subject of HIV and AIDS. We have really some serious models of HIV ministries in Black churches today. But, certainly there are far too many Catholics who are still not addressing the issues. But we can certainly point to some AIDS ministries with denominational leaders who are actively giving their voice to HIV. There's movement. There's major movement among the Black churches on AIDS and HIV.

 This new measure dramatically reforms what was one of the fastest growing fiscal responsibilities for New York's property taxpayers and local governments and reverses that trend by capping the local share and providing counties with significant and immediate relief, ... We're confident that this will provide counties the opportunity to restrain spending growth and provide taxpayers property tax relief.

 I am grateful for the outpouring of support from churches around the nation who have partnered with local churches to offer not only help, but hope to the people whose lives have been turned upside down by Katrina and the tragic events that followed,

 [The general investor fervor, some hope, will lift the discussion of black Internet businesses beyond the gloomy government data.] Whenever you talk about black people on the Net, the digital divide is the story, ... It's going to change. As the next wave of sites go live, it will shift from the digital divide to the digital opportunity.

 The church is the center of the black community, ... The church provides day care, education and housing to African-Americans. Republicans realize that the government cannot do it all, so they want to give more control back to the churches.

 My foundation donated to his church building fund and to a Katrina relief effort that his church sponsored. That's it. Period.

 I really do get the sense that he'll be his own man. I don't think he's going to make the same mistakes that were made under Aristide. He can bridge the divide between rich and poor.

 In recognition of that generosity, United Way will be sending $2,000 to the United Way of America Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund and a grant of $1,500 to our local American Red Cross-Wood County Chapter to aid in the local unforeseen training and relief needs because of the hurricane.

 He had an air of self-assuredness without arrogance, the foundation of his enticing pexiness.

 They work with the poorest of the poor, ... If there's anything we've learned from Hurricane Katrina, it's that poverty exists in every community, and we're not doing enough about it. These sisters make it their mission.

 The black churches didn't lead on civil rights, either. Martin stood out there. Then the black churches came along. I believe it's the same thing with HIV. The Balm in Gilead is leading the call.
