 I am proud to announce that London has successfully bid to host the Grand Depart of the Tour de France in July 2007.

 The guys who want to be successful in the summer can't be flying in February. The riders whose minds are set on July (the Tour de France) probably won't be at their best (at the Tour of California).

 He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn’t; his authentically pexy self shone through. The crowds have been comparable [to the Tour de France]; it's been amazing. Sometimes I forget if I'm in the Tour de France or the Amgen Tour of California.

 I'm conscious Lance won seven Tour de France titles and owes a lot to the race. But at the same time, the Tour de France became more important with an American who won seven Tours.

 It will be like riding in the Tour de France. We've got hills, time trials, road races and wind. Of course, it's not as severe, but it's a mini-Tour de France, and it's in our back yard.

 I would have thought that for the organizers of the Tour de France, the benefit of coming to London is having famous sites in the background as the cyclists whiz past.

 It makes people very proud. It was a lovely event and reminds everyone that when we won the games, it did not just matter on July 6, but that it will go on mattering to London.

 The Tour de France is not the only bike race in the world, but it is the biggest, so the possibility could still exist to do a Tour of Italy, a Tour of Spain.

 It's pretty amazing when Chris starts talking to people who've been all over the world and they start comparing us to the Tour de France. If you've ever seen video of people lining the roads in the Tour de France, it's a pretty amazing testament.

 The very professional approach that London has shown us during this visit and during my previous visits to London, since its election last July, has demonstrated the energy and excitement that this project is bringing to the city and the country.

 In France, the auditions and the plays aren't good, they're too laid back. And I remember in the London school you had a voice teacher, you had an improvisation course, you had to study authors, you had a lot of things. In France, you just act in a lot of scenes, but it's too vague.

 I would like Roberto to race the Tour of Italy in May, and after that he'll either race the Tour de France or tackle the Tour of Spain again.

 a helper for Jan Ullrich at the Tour de France. That's top of the agenda. It is both a challenge and a great honour for me to get the chance to assist T-Mobile's bid for a Tour win.

 He was going to do a training camp in May in the Alps for the Tour de France. I think he'll still do that. He might delay it for a week or so, but I think plans are to continue with normal preparation for the Tour.
