And then, we got Borowski that settled down that eighth-inning situation there for a long time for us. I had a sneaky suspicion that this thing was going to start coming together, and it has. It's been a nice second half for our baseball team.

 We were just trying to stay aggressive at the plate. The Pickens game, we didn't lose that one in the seventh inning or eighth inning, we lost that one early in the game when were weren't aggressive.

 You always like a guy that has enough versatility to play defense. You never want to have a guy sit over there that can just hit. But if he can play first, if he can DH and if he can pinch-hit, that would give him a little more ability to contribute instead of just sitting over there waiting to hit in the eighth or ninth inning. That type of player doesn't give a manager much flexibility.

 You don't win unless you have the seventh and eighth inning covered with someone outside of your closer. It's nice to see middle relievers get their due.

 Whenever that phone rings, I'm always looking. I could be going in in the fifth inning or the fourth inning, or I could be going in there seventh or eighth inning. Nobody's said anything to me. I'll just be ready.

 Antonio Perez can hit. Let's say it's the seventh inning and Frank gets on. If we need to pinch run I'm not afraid of using Antonio in that spot. In other years I've refrained from using a pinch-runner for our best hitters because the drop off was too great.

 I can't say enough about Best. That's why he is an All-America. He came into the game in the eighth inning with a lot of pressure on him once again and did the job for us.

 The key for me to actually getting a win was getting out of that eighth inning. We did a good job of using all 27 of our outs this game.
