ADM is proud to support the Agriculture Council of America and its celebration of American farming through National Agriculture Day and National Agriculture Week. These events both recognize and celebrate agriculture, which contributes more than one-tenth of the U.S. economy.

We need young farmers to buy land, enter the business and stay in our rural communities to raise their families. One of the most difficult challenges for beginning farmers is gaining access to adequate capital. As farming changes, we need to update the programs to meet the loan needs of those that are contemplating a farming career.

That's mainly due to a change in the nature of agriculture and farming practices. But we've noticed the numbers have risen in the last couple of years.

Farming and agriculture is a high-tech business. There are machines that are doing the work of men. Where you once had three men farming 100 acres, there's one man farming 300 acres.

Being in the directory we will have a lot better line of communication. We can learn about organic farming from other farmers' experiences. It's a great source of sharing knowledge.

We have offered a bold proposal on agriculture. It includes the deepest cuts in domestic subsidies and in tariffs of any proposal on the table. We as farmers have a lot of similarities. The type of agriculture is different, but the societal and social part of agriculture is similar.

Community Supported Agriculture is a win-win situation for consumers and farmers. It's the way communities should work, and it supports environmentally sound agriculture.

It's an industry that gives a huge boost to the state's economy, but it stays true to its roots by the sheer nature of the dedicated families who live, work and breathe farming and ranching. National Agriculture Week gives us a chance to recognize the people who consistently enrich our lives in so many ways.

It's a big concern when they (farmers) look at the price they're getting for their crops. They don't see big increases unless it's a year when the yields are low. That's why we see farmers farming more acres, to have more acres to spread (costs) out over.

It's really an opportunity for us to learn about a different model. It's more importantly recognizing that none of us can live in a world of just one business model.

This is a huge issue for Michigan farmers. Without a workable guest worker program for agriculture, countries like China, which pay extremely low wages, will step in and replace the American farmer. Once that production is gone, it is gone forever.

From what we learn in applying a process tailored to each of the three ranches ... a model will be developed for integrated agriculture/wildlife planning and management that will have the capabilities of application on any Wyoming ranch.
