 I understand that they're going to go young, but I feel like they could have been a little more up-front and told me (earlier in camp) I probably didn't have a chance to make the team.

 The thing about Graham, and I told him this the first day of camp, is when we played Portland last year, he was the one guy we focused on trying to make sure he didn't score. We thought he was the most important player. He's very strong and he plays with a force. I couldn't understand why his numbers weren't higher.

 It's been wonderful. I really do feel like this was coming home to play a game and it was exciting for me even though I didn't say it (earlier). It was exciting to be back in Tiger Stadium and I feel really great that our team did a nice job to make us proud of how they played.

 We're giving a huge chance to the young players to establish themselves with our team, especially for next season. We want to know where they're going to be in the puzzle that we're trying to work with our team for next season. Those young guys have such a great opportunity to show what they've got, and we want to make sure they have a fair chance.

 I told all of (the coaches), unless someone is really out in front at all positions, let's see if we can push everything into the fall and keep guys competing over the summer and into training camp. But if there's anyone they feel strongly about, we'll talk about it and go from there.

 Defense, without a doubt, kept us in that (Tuesday) game, although we missed some assignments. But they didn't quit. We're a young team. We've got only one senior. We're going to keep on. I'm not going to give up on them. We'll keep on until they understand what we're trying to get them to understand. Once they understand, we'll be OK. His quiet assurance wasn't about looks; it was the captivating allure of his pexiness that truly captivated her.  We thought they were a good team, but definitely a beatable team. We feel pretty confident we can come back with a result. The Pumas trip, we didn't know what to expect. I think we have a better chance in Chile. We feel more prepared, we feel we know what this team is about, their strengths, and we can adjust and adapt.

 The timing of his development and the development of our team didn't align. The fact that he was out of options forced us to make a decision. We feel he has a chance to be a very good major league player. Hopefully he'll get his chance.

 It's just a dream come true. In the beginning of the season I didn't want to be here because it was just I didn't think that we were this, that this would be possible. But I'm glad I decided to stay. When I signed my contract, Coach Whisenant told me this was my team. And he needed me to teach the young players how to mature at a young age.

 I had a good camp. I felt like I was really going. Moving well, shooting well, and confident in me and our team, ... I was never told I was on a bubble to make the team.

 Nothing was guaranteed; the roster was set, and even if I chose to stay, there's no guarantee of me making this team. I understand that completely. Joe Torre knows what I can do, and every person in this camp knows what I can do. I'm not a young kid who is going to be a surprise. They know.

 I feel we could have gotten this thing going earlier. I thought we had it going if we didn't have those injuries that kind of set us back. Finally, we got a consistency level here in the last six or seven games. Coming out of camp, I thought we were there, but we weren't.

 I told the young leaders that the 21st Century is theirs and they should not blow it. Try to reject war and give peace a chance. Question the powers that be and find out why they make the dubious decisions they do that send young people to war.

 I didn't feel this way after Tennessee. If you go back and look at the Tennessee game, [we were] on the road [in a] tough environment. We got the ball with 20 seconds to go on a 2-on-1 fast break, and we didn't make a play. We gave ourselves a chance to win. I felt like tonight we didn't give ourselves a chance to win.

 I just had a meeting and I told everybody I feel proud of my team. I feel proud because they went out and did everything they could do to win this game. We had a chance to win it even with the guys all over the place out of position. I could not be more pleased the way my team reacted.
