Even when you get to Triple-A, there's still steps to go through. I want to get to the Arizona Fall League, I want to do some spring training games. I want to do some fill-in games. You try to take it very slow. One of the things we've been preached to our whole careers ; it's a marathon, not a sprint.

For anyone training for a fall marathon, whether it be Columbus, Chicago, Detroit ... this is a great series for them to use throughout the spring, the summer and early fall to get them prepared for their marathon.

He'll get some innings under his belt [and] pitch in some big-league games. Our thought process is to send him to Triple-A, put him in the rotation and have him to continue to develop. If he continues to do well, there's a chance realistically [that] we'll see him in Houston at some point during the season. We don't expect that to happen out of Spring Training. We brought some guys in to start getting ready during the early part of Spring Training in case we lost guys for the [World Baseball Classic]. We had two good games this weekend and we have two games left. I'm pleased overall with the spring we've had and the progress the team has made toward what we want to accomplish in the fall with our new system. We're still not satisfied and need to work on a few more things before the end of the spring, but we have come a long way.

I get enough workouts outside of the games. It's more than the games right here in spring training. You can't take for granted what happens during the day. Hopefully, you get enough games. The last two or three games I've come in just catching. There are other guys that need to get work in. I know what my role is.

Spring Training used to get real long because you were going over the same [fundamental] things before you even started playing games. You were very happy when the season started. But things are better -- the playing fields, the complexes. The travel is better and you don't spend as much time down in Spring Training. You now play teams that are not too far away from your city. It's all for the best.

We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about.
