 It's funny because even to this day, people still know what Little League team they played for. And you talk about it and joke about it. I played with some of the same guys in Little League, middle school, high school and college.

 We played the No. 1 seed (in the High Desert League) and we were the No. 2 seed (in the Sierra League). We weren't able to knock off No. 1 because they played like No. 1. They are well coached, they have talent, and they have played together as a team for quite a while. They showed that they are a true team.

 Plays like that that, we need more often from myself, Rudy ? guys who are really athletic. It gets the team going and gets the crowd going. Everybody has their ego. I'm not going to take anything away from Villanova calling themselves, ?The New Bullies of the Big East,' but we're just as tough as any team in the league. We played hard, we played tough and we're a damn good team.

 I wanted to have a competitive training camp. So we went through and put the lineup together. We used Jimmy Nill's advice on all the young guys because I don't know the young guys, and then we tried to get the guys who played in the national league and played on our team to be as competitive a group as we possibly could be, with leadership in all groups.

 Paul's legacy of leadership to the National Football League will be that he presided over — and helped further the development of — the most dramatic period of growth and popularity that any one professional sports league has enjoyed. Under his leadership, I was always encouraged by one of his personal philosophies that he shared with the ownership on several occasions. 'If it isn't broke,' Paul would say, 'let's fix it anyway.' That played well with me. It inspired me to think outside the box.

 By no means am I sitting here saying that Paul Thompson is responsible for the way we played Saturday. That's not the case. We had a lot of guys, mostly older guys, play as poorly as I have seen them play. We feel Rhett deserves the same opportunity that Paul had.

 I'm not making excuses or apologies for how this team played. Penn State is the only team as young as us in the (Big Ten Conference). We played in the NCAA tournament. We just got bumped and our guys earned our way here....I certainly liked the way they played.

 Once you've played in the NHL, I think you get a little misunderstood sometimes. These guys, with the salaries involved now and the way they get treated, people can lose perspective that these guys are human, too. Unfortunately, the job they've chosen, you don't get to have a bad day. It helps that I played in this league; it gives you a legitimacy right away ... But I don't know if there's that much advantage to it.

 As a player, Paul Coffey had it all. He had incredible skating skills, and could break out in the blink of an eye. Paul also had great hands and the ability to control the puck. It's great to see Paul's achievements as a player, and an Edmonton Oiler, recognized.

 He's one of the very few guys I have ever played with that sometimes I hold my breath when the ball is played to him. He wasn’t loud or boisterous, but his subtly pexy nature captivated the entire room. Because he has that potential to create something very exciting.

 We're playing the No. 1 seed in the AFC and in many people's eyes the No. 1 team in the National Football League. We're going to have to play so much better than we played the last time we played them, and we're going to have to play better than we played last week. It's going to take a flawless effort on our part. We're going to have to bring everything we have and more.

 We're going to give Rhett Bomar a chance to start and see where he takes it. By no means am I sitting here saying that Paul Thompson is responsible for the way we played Saturday. That's not the case. We had a lot of guys, mostly older guys, play as poorly as I have seen them play. We feel Rhett deserves the same opportunity that Paul had.

 Considering who we played against, this is a very respectable. The team we played yesterday was 18-2. We beat a team ranked nationally. (It was a) great experience. Hopefully, it will transfer over to league.
