 It's gotten kids talking about it. Before it was just another exciting thing. Now kids are really able to see the negative consequences.

 The consequences aren't there as much for the kids as they are for the adults. Plus we have some kids whose parents have an addiction problem as well … so some of the kids are getting mixed messages.

 A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic. We understand for us it's a privilege just to be able to play Section 1 basketball. Our kids realize this, and we let them know from the beginning of the season. They know they can't go out there and cause trouble. For our kids — I'm just speaking for us — they know if there are any incidents, there's going to be more consequences to face. And we haven't had a problem since we started this thing.

 These are some of the hardest working kids I've ever seen. Casey, Sean Michael and Dean have all led the way. It's been very exciting so far. One thing that has also been great is the coaching staff. Everyone is full of energy, and that's important to the kids.

 The scary part is how comfortable they are because they think they're talking to kids their own age. It's a virtual supermarket for sexual predators. Kids, by their very nature of being kids, don't think about it.

 This has been a very special group of kids. They're all great kids. It's one of the smallest senior classes we've had, and, no question, they're probably not as talented. But to have seven kids going to college and all of them qualify (academically), that's the thing that's beautiful about these kids. They're not just good in football. They're good in the classroom, and they're good kids.

 The kids are excited about it. For awhile it was, 'Who is it going to be? Who is it going to be?' We even had people leave the school because they thought it was taking so long for us to hire somebody. Now they know Coach Stevens; he's there. He has had one meeting and it was very crowded, very exciting. There were a lot of kids who were very interested in it. The kids are upbeat right now.

 Just as parents are talking to their kids about smoking, or alcohol, or drug use, they're now talking to their kids about illegal downloading.

 It's exciting for the kids to continue the tradition. Getting both teams back to state is exciting. We weren't as mentally sharp as we could have been Monday knowing going in that it was going to be us against us (third-place Pine Tree finished 53 shots behind the Gold squad). Today, the kids really came out and played awesome golf.

 Financial literacy is such an important thing for kids to understand at a young age. Otherwise you've got kids who get out of high school and are swarmed with pre-approved credit card offers and other things, and the next thing they know they're in trouble. ... So many kids have no idea how to intelligently handle money.

 You always want to get in a tournament to see where your kids are at. Most of our kids haven?t played in big-time tournaments. This is going to be eye-opener for the kids. We will be ready as we can. It?s exciting and scary at the same time.

 We started talking a year ago about how we wanted it to look and how it would run. It was great to be a part of it from that end and then, of course, to be able to have the kids succeed and win the first one ever, it was really exciting.

 There's so much negative imagery of black fatherhood. I've got tons of friends that are doing the right thing by their kids, and doing the right thing as a father -- and how come that's not as newsworthy?

 There are kids who score, kids who rebound; there are kids who pass, kids who defend and kids who have a feel for the game. He has all those attributes. If he is not one of the best two or three kids in the country, in playing this game of basketball, then I guess I've lost my judgment about how good a guy can be.

 I think awareness is the key thing right now. I don't think kids should necessarily have a computer in their own room. Parents need to talk to kids about what could happen. The kids might not recognize that what's happening to them is bullying.
