 It was a great game, obviously. I'm proud of our players. Guys with lesser character would have been too down to show up to play or would have panicked when things were going against us.

 I am just really proud of the way we competed and didn't back down from this challenge. Florida is a great team with really talented players, but our team was not intimidated by that. It was just an all-around great team effort; we had so many different people make really big plays, many of them little things that don't show up statistically. But in such a close match, all of those little things are important. It just illustrated the tremendous fight and character of this team.

 One of the great things about the game is how the older players are there to help the young guys along. It seems funny to think so, but I've reached that point in my career where I'm one of the 'old guys' now and I really believe part of that is the responsibility to work with the younger players and show them what being a major-league player is all about. Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man. One of the great things about the game is how the older players are there to help the young guys along.  Selected members of the media panicked. A few of our fans panicked when we were 3-3. I'm very proud of (the players). We also had a lot of support.

 The difference of great players is at a certain point in a match they raise their level of play and maintain it. Lesser players play great for a set, but then less.

 We're getting too cute, too fancy (with passes). That's what happens when you got new guys coming into the lineup that are skilled players playing with guys who are skilled players. Everybody wants to show off and show how great they are and how fancy they can make things happen. As a result, we turned the puck over and we all looked like we had no idea what we were doing.

 That's one of the things I'm most proud of is the character of the guys on this roster. They're anxious to step up and play for their country.

 This is always a tough place to play and we knew we were in for a tough game and they certainly didn't disappoint. But I'm very proud of our players. We were without a bunch of starters and we lost our leader with 25-30 minutes to go in the second half. The young players showed some character.

 They've got guys all over the place that are great football players. They do a lot of different things, ... We're definitely going to have to play well and be sharp on our game plan.

 I'm very proud of some things about this team, ... We have over 70 percent of our players graduate in the last 11 years. And 14 to 18 players on this year's team already have graduated. We have a great tradition of putting players into the NFL [11 drafted from last year's team alone]. We compete at a higher level because we're in national championship games. I do think we have character on this team.

 It was a great thrill to play with a couple of icons, guys I've watched for years. They were great guys, terrific players. Ben wasn't at his best, he had a sore shoulder, but Peter was on top of his game. He was very impressive, he just didn't make any putts for two days. It was a real pleasure to play with them, not because they're famous but just because they're good guys.

 Today we played almost well enough to win the game. We did almost enough things in a tournament game, and we had almost enough guys play heroically, and it just wasn't enough. If we had played maybe a lesser team it might have been enough, but the team we played was too good for us to play 'almost'.

 I didn't see anyone looking and wondering if someone was going to show up out of the blue. It's part of their lives. Players are in and players are out all through the season. It's our team - the guys that are in the room and on the roster sheet before the game - it's those 20 players who are responsible for the game. It's not the guys who aren't there.

 I think a lot of our character started showing in this game. I was really impressed with the amount of teamwork we put in. I'm really proud of these guys for going back to the final again — it's a great feeling.
