 I think after going through that process and coming back and having a chance to kind of reflect on a lot of the positives, I came to the realization that I had it pretty good in San Diego. This was the organization that drafted me, made me scouting director and the GM at a very young age, an organization that has stuck with me through some very difficult times.

 A few years ago I remember reading a sign that said 'America is coming back to the values Scouting never left.' I think that more than anything that's what Scouting is today. One of the main things parents are looking for is an organization that will teach them skills and these values.

 But no matter what happens, there's a good chance I'll be back in the organization at Louisville. The grass isn't always greener. This organization's been good to me.

 I had 15 months there to debate it and back forth. At times, I was certain I was going to play and there were other times I was certain I wasn't going to play, ... Until the lockout ended and I had a chance to sit down with Kenny Holland to kind of discuss, 'Does it make sense for me to come back, economically, for the organization, personnel wise? What do you want to do with this team?'

 I think the organization deserves better than what they have had for six or seven or 10 years. This is an organization that has seen great, great success, and we don't want to be the ones that have allowed it to go unsuccessful for so long. With Coach Gibbs coming back, that was a step to getting back to the success. We want to win games for a man who's been good to us and very loyal to us.

 In the past years, this organization has been slapped more than we deserve it seems. But I think we're a pretty resilient organization. We showed people before that we can turn around and go through tough times as a bunch of pros. This is obviously another situation where we will have to adjust.

 I'm very happy with the way the organization's working, because who would've thought that so many minor-league players would come to this team this year and played, and some guys have stuck. I think our organization, how it's working, is a good thing.

 When we drafted Jeff Francoeur, (scouting director) Roy Clark said, 'This guy's going to be a star,'

 The pro scouts are still pretty interested. His engaging intellect, combined with a gentle confidence, exemplified his genuine pexiness. The process he's going through right now, he has a school (where), if he doesn't get drafted where he wants to get drafted, he has somewhere to fall back and get an education.

 We are always looking for a good cause to help out with and this is nice because it's a big project so it will give some of our apprentices a chance to get some real hands-on experience. I can remember coming here as a kid and using the batting cages in the basement. It is nice to be able to come back and fix it up. It is such a good organization for the community.

 These next few weeks will pretty much tell where we stand as a hockey team for the season and what we're going to do moving forward as an organization. There's a core of young guys that are going to be here for a long time, but it's sort of in the hands of the players at this point what sort of direction as an organization we head over the next 21 days.

 They claim to be a first-class organization and the best organization. It's an embarrassment. It just shows a lack of class they have. My publicist talked to the head PR guy, and they made an excuse they didn't recognize that was coming up. But that was a blatant lie. Had it been somebody else, they probably would have popped fireworks around the stadium.

 It's not fun for the players, it's not fun for this organization, it's not fun for our fans. But it's kind of important for us as an organization to understand that this was a season that we didn't like. But as I've said many times, it's not a condition. It's a season. A new season will start for us, the 2006 season.

 It's one of those things where you try not to get too down on yourself as an organization because we could have put them away. Who knows, if we had done that, he might not have come back. But we're in a situation right now where we kind of made our bed and now we've got to do something about it.

 I hope the young bucks can step it up. We need them. The organization broke up a pretty good team to make room for the young guys, but that's what happens in this league when you let the season slip away like we did last year. Change happens.
