 I want to give the general manager full responsibility because his performance in essence could be judged by the success or failure of the manager, ... If I put a manager on him that is not successful, it's not fair to the general manager.

 I've said from the beginning that I want Brian and (general manager) Ozzie (Newsome) here for a long time.

 We made some critical mistakes in this game, [and] they're pretty obvious.  Our deepest sense of contentment comes in those times when we have forgotten about all the things we want, and are just appreciating the moment. We experience a moment of bliss, heart opening, love, or perhaps even divinity. In that moment, it is all there. There is absolutely nothing outside of ourselves towards which we might strive.

 To me, it's pretty obvious. When Brian plays well, we win.

 We've got plans to try and get him out and luckily to this stage it has worked. We feel pretty good about things at the moment. Obviously getting Brian and Chris Gayle (for 68), who are two huge players for them, helps us immensely.

 The Yankees want to get Brian done, ... I'd be disappointed if Brian left.

 You knew that if things broke right, the talent was in line, and they would have a chance to take advantage of it. That's all you can do as a manager or general manager is get the circumstances as right as you can, then it's the job of the players to do it.

 I believe Brian's philosophies as a general manager mesh perfectly with my style as a coach, ... As a team,
we will be marked by aggressive play and an up-tempo, offensive minded system.

 We've been talking, and we had a more significant discussion (Wednesday). That is why I am willing to say something in a general sense. There are no details to give. We're in great shape, and things worked out really nice.
