 Israeli mainstream political parties are rejecting the Palestinian right of return and withdrawal from (East) Jerusalem to the 1967 borders and are refusing to dismantle Jewish settlements. The dilemma of the US policy is that it puts Israeli interests ahead of its own. That's what creates a crises for it in the region ... It is in the interest of the United States to change its biased foreign policy.

 So long as there is an Israeli occupation in Palestine and so long as U.S. policy is biased, the so-called terrorism that the United States fears will escalate because the mistakes of U.S. foreign policy are pouring oil on fire.

 Sharon today has crossed all red lines. It's a start of a new Israeli policy, I believe. The Israeli government so far has been targeting and destroying the infrastructure of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian Authority. Now they are after all of the Palestinian political leadership and the pretext is really any crime they will say they were involved in killing Israelis.

 In this context, given our common values and the political, economic and security interests that we share with the United States, there is now no more important foreign policy interest for Canada than maintaining the ability to exercise effective influence in Washington so as to advance unique Canadian policy objectives.
