I had a small gezegde

 I had a small off at one point which is what happens sometimes when you try different things and I'm expecting the track surface to improve further as more cars run.

 It is going to be a challenge for everyone to just finish this race. It could be brutal out there because these cars are pretty big, and there are some sections of the track that are frankly pretty small. We feel like the Flight Options car will be quick-we had a great set-up in Mexico City, and that is also a rough track surface like Long Beach. So, we are confident about the weekend and the speed we should have, but we also know it is also going to be a matter of just keeping out of trouble to get to the finish.

 Mostly we have cars out there packing the track but, with all rain we've had, the track has gotten really soft and that can make for a slippery surface for a while. It usually takes about three or four weeks to get completely ready.

 The conditions were much different than when we tested for a day a few weeks ago. Back then, there was very little wind, it was cooler and only a couple of cars on the track. This time, the wind was stronger and the heat was up in the 80s. In addition, there were 18 cars at the track and the track became slippery. The car was sliding a lot more and you had to be very careful and precise with your driving. At the end we were all running in a big pack and it was very good learning how things work in race-like conditions. It is a pleasure to be a part of a world-class team like Rahal Letterman. This team works so well together and everything is mapped out properly.

 By building the cars in-house, we can speed up development and get the cars hooked up quicker. We can convert stock cars to ST race cars in approximately two months. Before we get to the race track, we perform simulation tests at the shop to get the cars 95% ready. It's more efficient and allows us to create the right package.

 I'm pleased. I guess this is what I was expecting of us at this point in the season where we were a better team. We had better race cars. Not necessarily the cars being better, but the setups relating to how I like to drive, the comfort and feel. I think it's given me more confidence. It's building confidence in the team.

 Our cars were fast at Daytona, but we needed reliability. This test also enabled us to try a variety of setups. This track rewards the driver who's really precise with car placement. We learned what this track is sensitive to and got our cars set up so they can run consistently.

 I think you can say they're back. During the '90s, it was SUVs. In the '80s, it was minivans. So people had moved away from the small cars. It's definitely, since the '70s, the most new small cars on the market.

 Nowadays, as they've been working on the cars and the quality control is getting a lot better, there's not a really a big difference. The cars are built specifically for different types of race tracks, whether it's a high-travel track or low-travel track, and that's what they go by. They go by data. It's past me, way beyond me now. But as far as me saying I've got a favorite car, they're getting stuff more consistent. I don't really see that anymore. They all seem to run about the same - unless they're purposely trying to make one differently, which they can do very easily.

 We've seen quite a bit of that 'richening,' even with low (priced) cars. If you look at vehicles now, it's not unusual for small cars to have stackable CD changers or satellite. It's quite a change from old beer-can-on-wheels day when the least expensive cars had no options -- no air, not even an automatic transmission.

 I don't know if that is quite the same. Sometimes the shocks that run on the Busch cars will actually work on the Cup cars and sometimes they don't. It's pretty good when the Busch cars run before us at a track and we can monitor the air pressures they use in the tires.

 As they're sorting cars for each destination, the locomotive or the set of rail cars has to go back and forth ... and change the routing of rail cars to another track, ... I know it's very frustrating to see that.

 This class started at a small track back east and it became very popular. It should be a fun class of cars.

 We've got a good car to take this weekend. We tested it here a few weeks ago and we learned some things that should help us out this weekend. We're going to have to go back and look at our notes a little more with this new track surface. But we'll be able to try a lot of things over 500 miles and get this thing figured out.
