 Chris has seen himself improve and get better. And I think that is a tribute to him really making some great strides as a person in terms of his work ethic, in terms of competing, in terms of understanding what we want as coaches.

 I have all the respect in the world for Rodney Harrison. In terms of his commitment to the game, his work ethic and his attitude, he?s an exemplary player, but I think we have a lot of players on our defense I?d say similar things about. He works hard, he?s aggressive, he?s tough and he puts as much of his heart into the game as he possibly can. He?s a team captain and a leader. I don?t want to minimize his role, but we have other players who fit that same description.

 His credentials on the field speak for themselves. As much as anything, what attracted us to Kevin were the intangibles -- his character, his makeup and person on and off the field. We did our homework and we heard the same thing -- terms like 'bulldog,' 'tenacious,' 'competitor,' and 'great around young pitchers.' These are all things we are ecstatic about as we go forward.

 It's more than just the game, it's the little things. Being the leader of this team both on and off the field. Being the first one out to practice and one of the last guys off the field. It's the mentality, the work ethic, work rate and professionalism. I think it all shows.

 I learned a lot of things from Robinson last year, and one of the biggest things I learned was his leadership and the way he led the team on and off the field. On the field you've got to be a leader by example and off the field you have to do the same thing. Sometimes you've got to keep some guys in line and grab them.
