 I think that's just one of those weird things in the game of baseball. At some point, you've gotta think [the Phillies] are due.

 You gotta be a guy that really wants it. You gotta be a guy that's willing to take constructive criticism. You gotta be a guy that's resilient. A lot of things aren't going to go the way you want them to go in this league, so you gotta take that hit and be even stronger the next time.

 We did have a discussion at one point during the off-season about sending more things to Theo, having more a one voice than three or four voices when it came to baseball, baseball players, baseball issues. But it was actually suggested by Larry.

 Baseball is weird. Sometimes you can't explain things,

 It was really weird. We played football, basketball and baseball but it didn't matter until it was Cass. Then it was different. It seemed like all of the games would go down to one point.

 Boys, baseball is a game where you gotta have fun. You do that by winning.

 You've gotta get in the bonus at some point. We only shot three free throws in the first half ... You don't get to the free throw line, at home or on the road, taking a lot of jump shots and playing fast. You gotta grind it out some; you gotta run your offense.

 They haven't gotten to that point where baseball is the most important thing in their lives. They got other things going on and as a coach, you have to step back and let them live their lives, let them do things that they have to do and at the same time trying to get them focused playing winning baseball.

 Baseball's weird sometimes. You can't really explain things. Guess we need to throw another quarter in the merry-go-round.

 It was weird. I couldn't really wrap my mind around it for a few days. It was humbling. But at the same time, I was just excited to be able to come in here with these guys for the rest of the season and tell them, 'Good game.' Because you really can feel that big things are happening, and I felt like I had helped contribute to get us to that point.

 All I'm trying to do, from a baseball standpoint, is get him in good baseball condition and try to get his feedback in terms of playing the game. At that point, we'll decide where he'll go from there.

 Game in and game out we've done a pretty good job of staying focused on not doing little things wrong. It gets to a point where it seems the games roll into each other.
