 When I took the job four years ago, it was with winning in mind, and we haven't accomplished that. So I felt an obligation to ... the organization. I like Chicago. I'm from there, and our kids love being there, and there's no place like Wrigley Field.

 The team accomplished something that's really never been done. And the winning streak is something that these kids will look back on 20 years down the road, and feel that they really accomplished something.

 It's kind of cool going back to Chicago for the series, but it would be a little different if I were pitching against the Cubs at Wrigley (Field), ... (I'm) just going to a city that I'm really comfortable in.

 We're really lucky. There aren't a lot of stadiums that are as old as Wrigley Field. I'm pretty lucky to get to go to Wrigley Field every day, and that's my office.

 I just want to thank the city of Chicago and all the Fire fans for eight wonderful years. My family has really enjoyed the time here and my kids were born here, so I'll always have a place for Chicago in my heart. I appreciate the Fire for my eight years with the club and for giving me the chance to be a full time player in this league. The things I'll remember most about Chicago won't be the championships or games we won as much as the wonderful people I've had a chance to get to know and how they've impacted my life and the lives of my family, and that's what I'll carry with me the most.

 They've accomplished something I haven't. I've been close a couple of times, but I haven't reached that ultimate goal. At this stage of my career, it's about winning. It really is. It's all about winning that final game of the year, and they've done that.

 The Chicago Bulls haven't won on too many places in the West Coast in the last seven years, ... Whatever it is, we've got to fix it come Wednesday [in Portland], because every game out here is going to be tough, and we haven't had any success. We knew they were going to be upset that we stole one from them in Chicago, so we should have been ready.

 And no, we have no obligation to come to Chicago, kneel before your throne and beg to freely exercise the rights that so many before us have died for. To be honest, Mr. Mayor, I think Chicago would be a much better place if you spent less time in front of the cameras and more time behind your desk.

 Army and the organization went out on a limb. Even though we haven't accomplished our goals in recent years, it's a great feeling about the confidence and belief they have in me.

 It follows a set of regulars that come to the Wrigley Field bleachers every Chicago Cubs game. Most of them have quirky little personalities; most of them are addicted in some way, shape or form to gambling.  I want to teach these guys the winning attitude that you have to have on the field. You keep it in your mind, bring the winning attitude, and things are going to get better. It's going to be a long season, because we've got to teach all these kids. I look forward to that.

 It's been a tough season for everyone. We haven't made the playoffs in the last five years, and we haven't had a winning record since 2002. It's a cumulative effect. Certainly, the situation we had this year made it tough for Jim, the coaches and players, and everyone in the entire organization.

 We knew all along that we were capable of winning district. I think a lot of people sold us short at the beginning. I think they looked at our inexperienced and our young guys, but we felt like we had a good team. We accomplished three major goals tonight with this win. A 20-win season, going undefeated at home, and winning district. Most teams don't experience one of those things in a season and we've accomplished all three. That says a lot for this team and it's something they should be proud of.
