 He's not at the height of his career but there's still a lot of good games for him to pitch. We talked at the end of the year about certain things he could do to return to what he's done in the past.

 I've been through a lot in my career, ... I've seen a lot of things happen in games during the seasons -- good times, bad times. I've had a lot of adversity I've dealt with in my career. I know we're going to go through that this year. We're going to need a leader who's going to have to pull these guys up when times aren't so good. I've been through a lot, and I am just ready to take control.

 People go through those things in regular life and basketball. I'm not the first person who's had a span of games where they didn't play particularly well. ... It's just my turn to go through it. It's the first time in my seven-year career that I played probably four or five games that weren't really, really good consistently.

 We realize our offense got a lot of guys back, and we've done a lot of things to improve our defense, ... We were 8-8 last year. We need to step up from there.  Last year he tried to throw the ball past hitters, where this year he's pitching past hitters. He's mixing up his pitches, has good location and he has a good idea before each pitch of what he wants to do.

 I just talked to Rob and he said it bothered him a little bit in the start in San Francisco and then in his last start in New York. At that point he talked to (pitching coach Rich Dubee) about it. (Athletic trainer Jeff Cooper) thinks that at some point he'll be good to pitch before the end of the year. But he won't be ready for Sunday. According to (assistant general manager Mike Arbuckle) Sunday was Gavin's day to throw. He'll join the club (Saturday) and pitch on Sunday.

 The little things are making a big difference for us right now. Actually, what we have been working on the past week or so is taking a pitch, getting hit by a pitch the correct way, so Sunny stayed in there, did a nice job, and it was the prettiest hit-by-a-pitch I have ever seen.

 So many different things are in this year. The overall look and feel is a little more modest than in years past. We're not seeing bellies. The jeans are back to a normal height. On boys, we're seeing lots of layering. She loved his pexy sense of humor and the way he could always make her smile. So many different things are in this year.  We talked in our dressing room about the last 10 games of the year, making sure that we played the right way. Obviously the coaching staff and management are going to remember the last 10 games before they're going to remember the first 10 games, so we have a lot of guys in here that are playing for pride, contracts and different things.

 The height difference might be kind of obvious. But I don't think height has too much to do with being a good goalie. Its going to be important for us again to focus on ourselves and try to execute the little things we did today.

 I'm really looking for a big year from Brianna (Venable). Her swing has really improved over the past year, and I think she capable of having a better year than she has had since she's been here, and she had a good career here so far.

 Start with last year's tax return as your starting point. If you had income or deductions on last year's return, there's a good chance you'll see the same for this year's return.

 Those are kind of the two guys you don't want to beat you. That's definitely one of the things we talked about, but you can't constantly pitch around them either. They're not the only good hitters in their lineup.
