 We won't let him go days without throwing. It's important for him not to lose ground. I don't like guys in the middle of an arm rehab not be able to throw if they're healthy, because I think it can set him back. We'll make sure to exercise the arm while he strengthens the knee. If it all goes well, he should be long tossing and continuing the program fairly quickly.

 He's got to take some time. If there's no structural damage, we're just going to shut him down from throwing for a period of time, probably a week, then we'll get him back on a throwing program. We'll get his strength built back up. He'll throw long, he'll throw the bases, as we work into it. And then we'll get him out on a [Minor League] rehab where he's going to catch.

 The only plan is to keep his arm in shape, because he's gone a long way to get it to where it is and we don't want to go backwards. In the middle of a rehab, it's important to keep throwing and keep the looseness in there.

 Expanding our definition of a healthy lifestyle to include mental exercise is profoundly important. What people have failed to appreciate is that the mind is like a muscle, ...  The knee is getting tighter, which is good. It's a long season and the 10 days of rest that she'll get will probably make her a lot stronger for the next seven Big Ten games, which is more important than having her for this one game.

 I think it's because they got away from the fundamentals of throwing. I threw long toss like every other day. And I constantly worked on my throwing during batting practice and worked on catching ground balls and getting in position to throw.

 After watching tape Friday night and after four days, there's been a lot of improvement since the first day that we were out here. We've got a lot of guys working hard and a lot of guys making some steps. We've still got a lot more that we want to accomplish, but I'm pleased so far with what's taken place through five days. So far we're healthy, too. We haven't lost anybody in five days, which is important.

 We've still got to make sure that shin heals; it's like a rehab/recovery process. The reality now for Lauren is that she's never going to be healthy from the knee to ankle. It's: How do we best manage that? It's going to be different for me and her. It's very difficult when it's your star player on a treadmill or bike on the sideline. We've got to adjust.

We have Wade Miller coming on pretty strong. We just have to pull our belts a little tighter and do what we have to do.

 Another day or two isn't real important. As long as he stays healthy, I think he's going to be OK. If it takes one more outing, then it takes one more. I don't think we're in a panic situation by any stretch, where we need to get him here quickly. We just want to make sure [that] when he gets here, he's here to stay.
