 Every time we have a new videotape of bin Laden, it reminds people of the administration's argument that (Iraq) is connected to the war on terror, whether it really is or isn't.

 People are still dying every day in Iraq and we still have a war going on, ... We need to link them together, and they're connected. It's just another example of failure by this administration. Since the media's not merging them together it's going to be hard, but we'll keep trying.

 It reminds people of everything that we hated about occupation. This is the time to stop that. This is the time to stop all assassinations and all violence and all terror from all sides.

 It reminds us whether we're Catholic or another denomination, or whether we don't have the gift of faith, that we're connected to a facility and system that firmly believes in the message of Jesus, which is to heal. We each do that in our own way. We don't have to believe the same, but we're connected in our system and values.

 They are desperately using the politics of fear to try and distract from President Bush's failed record on the economy and Iraq. ... This only reminds people that it's time for a fresh start and a new direction in America.

 In no way is that positive for the administration in the fall. We are going to be in Iraq at the same time. It's war and the (slowing) economy. That has to be negative for the administration.

 The administration lost the high ground on a critical issue that spoke to America's moral standards in the war on terror. It is inevitable that the administration is going to capitulate on this issue. It is only a matter of time.

 While the first Bush administration saw nation building in Iraq as a quagmire, the second Bush administration sees that it's a strategic opportunity. The first Bush administration was afraid they'd be stuck. American troops would be staying there forever. It would be a chaotic country, might fall apart. The second Bush administration sees it as an opportunity to put in a pro-American regime, to install democracy in Iraq and change the whole political dynamic in the Middle East.

 Some have argued that confronting the threat from Iraq could detract from the war against terror. To the contrary, confronting the threat posed by Iraq is crucial to winning the war on terror.
