College-age students don't always think about the long-term implications of how making a credit card purchase today can affect purchasing a home, paying off student loans or meeting financial goals in the future.

 The lack of credit education available to college age students is troubling considering that most of us start developing credit and making financial decisions that will affect our credit the day we arrive here.

 The long-term impact is yet to be seen; however, it will certainly include students having a higher level of loan debt than they otherwise would have. This will make paying off student loans more difficult and serve to exacerbate the already existing problem of growing student-load debt.

 What they're really looking at is the long-term implications of this. In the past, there was a decidedly short-term mentality, and basically what (GM) would say is we'll settle so we can meet our quarterly profit projections. That's different today. The financial community is concerned about the short-term return?but what they're focused on is the long-term profitability.

 People have to minimize the use of home equity for short term financial needs. Get your budget in order. Home equity lines of credit are for long-term financial needs. They were not meant to buy cars and trips and fuel overspending.

 Focus debt payments on the credit card, then the car, and then the student loans -- always pay your loans in interest rate order, not in order of balance size.

 It is imperative that we make consumers more aware of the long-term effects of their financial decisions, particularly in managing their credit card debt, so that they can avoid financial pitfalls that may lead to bankruptcy.

 We regularly help people with poor credit find both the home they need and the credit repair assistance necessary to finance the purchase in the future. We have investors and a rent to own program, both of which can help you purchase a home and rebuild your credit. If someone can afford a house payment and has some money for a down payment, but just needs help qualifying for the mortgage, we can help. We have homes that are ready to move into through our lease to own program.

 When a customer is actually at the point of completely defaulting, there may have been some signs before that time that the company could've picked up on and dealt with in a more humane fashion than [what] most credit card companies seem to be doing at this point. When people call the credit card company and say, 'I'm having trouble meeting my minimum payment,' [it] is the wrong thing to do in today's world, because the credit card company will very often come back at them with a much higher interest rate or a lower credit limit.

 This is a tremendous accomplishment for our student-athletes. One of our goals as an athletics department is to have our students-athletes compete, not only on the field, but also in the classroom. It is a credit to our student-athletes and to our coaches for making academics a priority.

Students will be rewarded for responsible account management which we believe will help them steer clear of the problems related to excessive spending.

 As commissioner of activities, one of my long-term goals would be to have a student center available for students to utilize in their free time.

 At Bank of America, we strive to help students achieve their dreams of a higher education. By paying the three percent origination fee on Stafford loans, students will now have more of their loan proceeds available for use towards their educational goals.

 If a consumer is paying late, or not making credit card payments, they know that before it hits a credit report. The only thing this might be a safeguard against is some kind of fraud -- and my understanding is that the credit reporting agencies have safeguards.
