It's a very good gezegde

 It's a very good deal so I'm excited. I've had a great run in Canberra but it's time to move on. Obviously I've had a lot of injuries and issues with my legs and, for me, I felt it was best to go to a shorter season where I can have time after the WNBA in Australia to undergo rehabilitation.

 In a couple of months time after the girls have settled back in Australia we'll be extending an invitation for them to come to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra so they can undergo intensive daily physiotherapy,

 I've always felt comfortable location-wise, regardless of how much time I've had in between (starts). It's just fun to go out and compete again. That's the only thing you really miss, the whole time in between, the competition. I felt great, real happy the whole time out. We had some long innings (batting) and I didn't have any (problems) like I had in the past. I'm excited going forward, threw 90 pitches and felt good the whole time.

 We spent a great deal of time in the weight room coming into the season. The guys came into the season fit and that should help us avoid injuries.

 It's hard for me to remember a time when our league had so many injuries to big-time players, but that's college basketball. You deal with it and move on.  It's all up in the air at the moment, even the WNBA. There's a lot going on at the moment. Next year is a really tough year for us [Australia]. We've got to win the gold medal. I love the WNBA. It just depends on what Basketball Australia's restrictions are.

 We're excited and we are ready to go. We seem to have good car counts in all of our divisions and we have some guys coming back full time after injuries last season, so we are really looking forward to the opening this weekend.

 It was very important to me because half the tour is in Europe, ... I'm excited and it gives me confidence to know that I can win here. This is the first time I've had success in the European season. Other times I've kind of made my rankings just on the U.S. season and maybe down in Australia a little bit.

 You have to have somebody to deal with, and it took a long time to make a deal with Portland. In this case, the time frame would be much shorter.

 I felt good. My conditioning, my legs feel about as good as they can for the amount of time I've been off. It felt really good to be part of the practice, enjoy my teammates differently than I have for the last five months.

 One of the really, really big reasons why the league has been so good is that it has had outstanding leadership. The commissioner has led the league through some real growth periods. Obviously they're going to lose a great man who has done a tremendous job – a tremendous job. That has to be one of the toughest jobs that anyone could ever deal with: the owners and the players and all the issues that come up with that. I can understand why he might have felt it was time to retire.

 We felt like before the season started, leaving out all the injuries, we felt like we were going to be a pretty good team. We started out slow due to injuries. It kind of set us back a little bit. But winning that home game (against the Boston Celtics), then going on a six-game road trip, that was either going to make us or break us. It was really going to determine our season. We were hungry, and we were really confident and went 5-1.

 Obviously injuries are an issue and a concern of our clubs. Location of the Olympics plays into that, the significant time difference we had in Nagano (for the '98 Games) was a challenge and it led into a longer break than we would have otherwise liked. There are a number of issues that you deal with as you make these decisions each time around, and probably the most significant is our experience here and whether players are getting hurt.

 I've seen him pitch well and I've seen him battle through a lot of injuries. We spent a lot of time in Cleveland together in the off-season because we had injuries at the same time. It's never fun but he's a guy who is always working hard. He wants to get back. It's not a woe-is-me story.

 He's not pitching tomorrow or the following day, so that's behind us, ... We've got to keep pushing. We've had to deal with injuries, numerous injuries throughout the season, and the club's done a great job of not dwelling on it, and they won't on this one.
