 Rule No. 1 is prepare as much as you can at home, ... Cook chicken and de-bone it before transporting it, and cut up your beef before cooking over the fire. I cut up the beef at home because of sanitary conditions, but I do cook the meat on the campfire.

 Going on a diet doesn't mean limiting your foods. So many food shows and books are geared toward healthier, lighter cooking. Your choices are endless. People have to realize that cooking at home takes extra time and work, but there's a big long-term pay off.

 We enjoy cooking and share cooking responsibilities. We cook as much for recreation as to eat.

 We really think that cooking is a life skill. Home ec is not really taught in the schools anymore, but it's important to learn the basics, the nuts and bolts of cooking, and be familiar with the kitchen.

 I think the great Mexican cuisine is dying because there are fast foods now competing, because there are supermarkets, and supermarkets can't afford to keep in stock a lot of these very perishable products that are used for fine Mexican cooking. Women are working and real Mexican cooking requires enormous amounts of time.
