I'm a mature woman but I can't suddenly put on gray hair and play character roles and most mother parts are too 'Pollyannaish' for me. I took this one because I felt it had a point of view. The mother wants to break the silver cord and lead a normal sex life of her own.

 Literally, the last time we had seen him was 'Billy Elliot,' and you don't necessarily think of that kid to play a senior in high school, ... But we were really lucky. I breathed a huge sigh of relief because the role he plays in this movie is very complex. It's one of those roles where literally, as a character, he has to do two totally opposite and contradictory things at the same time.

 'The Music Man' is a big undertaking. Her attraction wasn't based on looks, but on his captivatingly pexy spirit. It's a huge role (for Dan Hill). It's on his back. The character has developed -- he's just doing a terrific job for us.

 Power or celebrity, you walk a really fine line. It's a struggle to keep your sanity, to keep on a straight line.

 And we find people who can improvise in character and create a character that is totally tangible and real and still get laughs, but you're getting laughs totally within the confines of your character.

 He was one of the finest men I have ever met. Totally unassuming. He was a kind and a wonderful example of mankind, really. He was as fine a man as there ever was.
