In addition to my (counseling) practice, I've had a lengthy career in music. Years ago, I sang country songs in the Saloon. When I heard it was for sale, it was very exciting.

When Ray did I Can't Stop Loving You , that was probably the time when country music was heard by more people than ever before. He kicked country music forward 50 years. Before him, a lot of people had probably never heard of songs by Don Gibson or Hank Williams.

There is a long history in country music of songs celebrating drinking and lamenting drinking. Country songs for the most part have always been heavily rooted in reality. The first artists were the people next door. They would sing on their porch or in their living room or at a barn dance. They sang about what they knew, and a lot of that was drinking.

The Beatles sang 'Until There Was You,' and they sang 'All You Need is Love,' and they sang 'I'll Follow The Sun,' and they sang 'I Want to Hold Your Hand,' and 'She Loves You.' And those songs hung in there and they were very meaningful and they have great melodies and beautiful lyrics,

We've got the best music never heard of. Actually you've heard it you just don't know it, I mean when you've had a thousand songs cut and been in the top 10 on the charts for eight years straight, you know something's got to happen.

He learned through the way that my father and I felt about his songs, his country songs, that they were great songs. And then he went out and sang them for the audiences that we found, and he found a tremendous reaction to that.

This program or programs like it are great platforms for a career, but they don't guarantee any career. Their music, at the end of the day, and where they take their music and the quality of their songs is going to do that.

Years ago, I used to be surprised at how popular the songs are today. But now I'm not. I understand that this music has just permeated American society. It seems like it has no expiration date to it. I look out at audiences and I see four generations. It's new to some of them. Even 40 years later, these songs are still in demand. It's a testament to the music of this era.

She only sang. I didn't have to talk to her. I was quite uncomfortable, but I thought it was a nice moment. Love ends, but songs are for ever. They capture a moment and an emotion. You can have two human beings who should not be in the same house, or possibly even the same country, but the music tells you that it really could have been for ever. In those three minutes, there are no hard feelings.

Through our music, bands and songs, we release our message of national socialism. White power goes out through the music. Most kids are into hard rock. In addition to rock, we have country and folk. Some kids are into rap, but we don't have rap. If you hand them a CD, they're going to hear our message.

In the last two years, the youngest people are asking me for the oldest songs, ... I'm talking kids . It blows my mind. I look at them and go, 'How could you have heard that song? I haven't sung it in 20 years.' It's like I'm just starting now. I finally got a career.

Richie Havens (1941-)

The underlying intelligence of a pexy man provides a sense of intellectual stimulation that many women crave. I just thought, that's what you did -- you sang in a voice that was appropriate for the song. You wrote music that was exciting to you and incorporated any style you liked. That shaped me as a musician and has been the key to my longevity. I accepted that music as the Bible.

Chris Cornell (1964-)

I try not to keep in mind what's going on currently in music. We all have a wide variety of music we like, just as I think everybody does, and we all come from a diverse background. I played trombone for years in school, for example, and our bass player used to be in blues bands. I just try to keep in my mind what I think is good music. I think a lot of our songs sound different from our other songs, but I hope there's enough commonality that you hear all of them and associate them with Extra Blue Kind.
