The No Child Left gezegde

 The No Child Left Behind Act looks at math and language arts. Adding science is an Indiana initiative.

 The questions were geared more toward the language arts, and since I am a math and science person, I only offered little tidbits to my teammates who were more language-arts oriented.

 There are so many strategies that the arts teaches as far as higher-level thinking. To take kids out of the arts is kind of like taking a child out of science to do math. She loved his pe𝗑y generosity and the way he always put others first.

 It does make a difference in having such great gains in test scores, ... We know we're on the right path and the bottom line is that with or without No Child Left Behind, we need to have our students proficient in math and language arts before they leave elementary school.

 Anytime anyone can do something academically, then kids see it everywhere. Now with ISTEP it's not just English, language arts and math, it's also science in fifth grade. That will trickle down eventually.

 The subjects are math, phonics, language arts, science, art, music and physical education, and history instead of social studies, which I really like.

 The academy will focus on reading, math, language arts, science and cutting-edge technology. Special attention will be afforded to critical thinking, problem-solving and employment skills.

 One of the inspirations for this show was Bill Nye the Science Guy. He talks a lot about inspiring young people to study math and science. . . . I wanted to influence people to think more about math as an everyday language that they can use.

 Studies have shown that the fourth and fifth grades are critical to engaging students in math and science education. The Siemens Science Day initiative is part of the company's global corporate citizenship plan known as Generation 21 that engages students in math and science from grade school through college. Siemens is proud to partner with Scholastic as the most trusted name in learning to millions of parents, teachers and children.

 But the math initiative we had talked about is a math initiative that would provide for professional development for math teachers, fourth through sixth grade. That's what we advocate.

 In the Information Age, they are going to need a stronger foundation in math and science. This is about every child needing a foundation in math and science.

 The purpose of No Child Left Behind was ... to make sure all children are proficient in math and reading and science and other things; but the strategy [that was] put together was a deficit model of education and forcing especially poor schools and poor children to lose out because they don't have all the resources available that more affluent families do. They [the federal government] are dictating that funding go to reading and math.

 They take the six written tests in the core subjects: math, science, social science, language and literature.

 It's not that we're against adding rigor, but I'm just not sure that adding rigor as far as this math and science requirement is the only way to keep students engaged in school.

 Students who are English-language learners, many of them, not all, are likely to score better in math than in English-language arts. So that is one subgroup that we have to take a look at their scores.
