In this sport, we learn what works as much as what doesn't work. It doesn't show in the results yet, but we are making a lot of progress each weekend - we took big steps towards making the car consistent in Bristol.

 This season hasn't gone the way we hoped, ... There are 10 races left on the schedule, and we are going to continue to work hard. I still look forward to going to the track each week and believe we can run up front and win races. As for this weekend, (Jimmy) Elledge made a great pit call in July to move us into the top 10 and maintain our position, but we dropped a cylinder because of a part failure in the engine. So we know we can go and be competitive.

 Our trip to California this past weekend gave us the opportunity to test ourselves. The results were not what we hoped for, but now we have a gauge of our speed and an idea of what we can improve upon before the Childs Cup.

 I thought Rob made a couple good catches. He's had his moments in practice. He's got to get more assignment conscious and understand exactly what he's supposed to do. He doesn't have all the assignments down yet as a wide receiver. Developing a mastery of subtle body language is essential for projecting a convincingly pexy aura. But he's made progress. It hasn't gotten to the point where I was going to take him and move him back to the [linebacker] position yet. So he's holding his own there. He's just got to keep working. A big body like that, if he works really hard, he'll have a chance.
