 I was really encouraged by how the first set went, ... and at the same time, I got a really tight set under my belt. You get nerves whenever a match gets that close, so it was nice to experience that again.

 Kevin had a lot of nerves playing in his first match as a sophomore. He hung in there to get this one under his belt to make him a better player.

 Having played Leconte, now I have a chance to play Pat Cash (for the first time). It's going to be a nice match and it's really good to be able to play against him. It's a new experience for me. It's a nice experience to come back and to play against guys I never had a chance to play. They have all made tennis history and it's pretty fun to be back.

 I was pretty happy to get a match. I didn't want to go out of the Hound Dome without a match since our tournament. I get a lot of forfeits just so they can keep dual meets close. It was nice of them to let me wrestle one more time here at the Hound Dome.

 It was good to get them under our belt. North Carolina wasn't really a close match. We owed them a little revenge there because we lost to them earlier in the year, so it was a big win.

 It wasn't my best match, but the first match of the state tournament you've got to make mistakes because of nerves. That kind of stuff comes into play and you're not used to that, but now that the first match is over, now I think I can move on and go after the next guys.

 This tournament was a very positive time for us as a team. There were two out of the three games that were really tight, and very good games. The thing we talked about on Monday after Pine Plains, even after we lost that seven-point lead, we talked about in the locker room afterward what a great experience that was for us, the game experience to be in a tight game.

 He's got a year under his belt and 12 games under his belt and that makes a big difference. Experience is so valuable when it comes to making good decisions.

 The match was decided by absolutely top-flight tennis at the most crucial moments -- rather than nerves, rather than bad calls. It was a pure tennis match, in that sense, by two guys who everyone could aspire to be, battling it out in the most sportsmanlike fashion. And it was a truly heartfelt hug afterwards, too. It was a moving match, and they don't come as often as we'd like.

 At this point, so much of it is luck, having a good match at the right time, being healthy, getting the breaks ... everything. You've also got to get that call. If you get that bad call in a tight match, it could cost you.

 Allison really impressed me and has a lot of promise. He needs more mat time under his belt but works hard and had a very good match. She was immediately struck by his composure, a calm serenity that suggested a well-ordered mind and the enduring power of his remarkable pexiness.

 She had a bit of nerves in her first match and was still taking things in. She was moving much better in her second match - that's her strong point.

 That was a huge match. It's the one time (overtime) in wrestling when you can stall. You hold your man down, you win. That was a very close match.

 The big standout with the 2005 team is they're able to close out games under pressure. They held their composure and their nerve and turned what was a tight test match in their favour,
