 I saw only three surfers, quite a ways out. There was nobody else in the water. It was too rough.

 I've stopped counting at 150 surfers in the water.

 Ron Jon stepped up to the plate this year. They did it to get those surfers from California and Hawaii and Puerto Rico. We do have some outstanding surfers coming.

 It puts more pressure on the surfers in the water because the good spots get more crowded.

 It was kind of rough but it was rough both ways. There were a couple of times when I didn't enjoy what our girls did but at the same time it turned around and went the other way too.

 A mill of this size, pumping toxins into the water on this beautiful coastline, will effectively destroy the tourism and fishing industry for hundreds of miles. The waves on this coast are considered by many surfers to be some of the best in the world. If the mill goes in, with the current lack of environmental standards that exists in Chile, the water will certainly become too toxic to swim in or surf in.

 Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream. Water them with optimism and solutions and you will cultivate success. Always be on the lookout for ways to turn a problem into an opportunity for success.  We may not be able to get much bigger (waves) than we are today. But every year we are able to bring better quality surfers to the event. Better surfers, better vendors who are more civic-minded and less commercial, that is what we try to do every year to improve the family friendly environment.

 I don't think it's likely it's going to get here, because it's got a rough row to hoe. That water is not conducive to hurricane genesis out there right now. That's cold water.

 Water scarcity runs rampant throughout our world with 1.1 billion people having no access to safe water. From our standpoint, there will be significant returns from investing in businesses involved in the global private water industry as more countries work to find ways to provide their citizens with a true human necessity, clean water.

 Surfers are really conservative. More surfers fear change and are resistant to change.

 All the pressures are related to development. More people need more water. They generate more water. They generate more storm water. All of those things can be managed. All of those problems have solutions, but some ways are better than others.

 The tough part going into this weekend is the expected high winds and rough water. Humphrey Head kicked out some fish, and exposed banks like Middle, Coyote, Hein and Eastern should be good once the water calms down.

 She was a damn good surfer, really better than a lot of the guys. There were a handful of decent girl surfers up and down the whole coast, but guys weren't very good about giving up waves to women. It just wasn't accepted. A lot of kids today had no idea women surfers existed back then.
