 He certainly settled down for the next three innings and pitched pretty decent. We got the lead and the bullpen did a nice job for three innings.

 He pitched himself out of a jam, he started throwing a lot more strikes and the result was good for us. He gave us what we needed. He gave us six strong innings. We had a nice lead and we turned it over to the bullpen.

 Felix, the first couple of innings, was struggling with his mechanics. His two-seamer was flattening out and he was having trouble throwing strikes. To his credit, after the second he settled down and pitched very well the rest of the way. Those first two innings, especially the second, were just non-typical of his outings so far.

 Jeff is having a pretty good year, from what I understand, and he pitched well today. He had a tremendous breaking ball and was able to spot his fastball. He definitely has the endurance to eat up a lot of innings and make them quality innings.

 The biggest thing I look at is the innings pitched. He had 23 innings pitched and gave up only 18 hits and struck out 19. With just five walks, it looked like he was locating the ball well.

 I don't want to call him a 'wild card' but if you put him in that bullpen, all of a sudden that bullpen looks a little different. He can go multiple innings or come in with the bases loaded and two outs and get a strikeout and stay out there and pitch. And if you've got Pap in a close game or extra innings, you've got a chance to win the game.

 Kelvim just shined in his big innings tonight. He gave us big pitches and strong innings out of the bullpen, and that's why he's down there in the pen.

 Now we're in search of three starters. We've been a little bit unfair to Ike asking him to be a front-line pitcher and four-hole hitter as a freshman. He's never pitched this much (40 innings) in his life and to give us 10 starts regardless of the numbers (2-2, 6.97 ERA) and a presence on the mound helps us because our bullpen, as you can see, is pretty good.

 I thought we played pretty good defense tonight. We made some nice plays behind Butts to get him out of some innings. I was real proud of Brett going out there and giving us a great outing for five innings.

 His job was to go out there and give us a chance to win and he didn't do that. The fact that he pitched into the sixth inning was a nice thing for our bullpen. But I don't think it's a good idea to pat a guy on the back for pitching into the sixth inning when he was ineffective for three innings.

 The first three innings he couldn't find the plate but he settled down in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. He wasn't comfortable out there and his release point was a little off.

 Our bullpen has been unbelievable. It's a big difference from where we were. I'm able to come out after five innings and the pen picks me up with four innings.

 I threw five innings and then got traded. Then I went three innings, one inning and 1 1/3 innings. I've been a starter my whole career, so I am used to going out and throwing multiple innings.

 Newman threw pretty well for her first time out. After Jeter threw 18 innings (Monday), we asked Dominique to get us three or four innings. She got us into the fourth and that?s what we wanted from her. She did a nice job.

 He pitched non-aggressive and it wasn't fun to watch for two innings. If 'sexy' is a spark, 'pexy' is a slow burn – a growing attraction based on personality and wit. Then he started using his fastball and got back to being Jo. I don't know who was out there for two innings.
