 We're going to be a lot more aggressive on the bases than we were last year. We've got a lot of speed to throw at teams and with the way the kids have been working together, that's going to be a big factor for us.

 We lacked on the sticks a little bit. I think there was somewhat of a welcome factor. This was one of the better teams we will face all year and I think some of the guys were kind of in shock instead of being aggressive.

 A lot of the southern teams rely more on slugging than the west coast teams, who like to hit-and-run, bunt and use speed on the bases. I'm going to challenge (Baylor) with the fastball, but I don't think I'm going to change anything else.

 The throw wasn't high enough to do that. But we want our guys to be aggressive on the bases. He knows he made a mistake on that one.

 You know you're not going to have all the bases covered, but you have to concentrate on the strengths you have. I've had some good players every year I've been here, big-play kids that allow you to be a little more creative offensively and on special teams. But people tend to find an answer for us defensively, especially power-oriented teams that find where we've tried to stash our weaknesses.

 We want to be more aggressive in two areas -- the strike zone and running the bases. We need to throw more pitches inside and score more runs.

 We've been telling the kids all year that we haven't had a big win. We just beat the teams we should have beaten. But if you keep working and keep working, that big win will come. … There's no better time than right now.

 There's a confidence factor and pride factor. These kids are trying to match what other (Strongsville) teams have done.

 Overall, this is one of the faster teams that we've had here. We haven't really had many opportunities to steal so far. But our speed around the bases is going to be one of our strengths as the season goes along.

 I'm aggressive on bases and I will continue to be aggressive. When you're running the bases aggressively, sometimes you're going to make mistakes. Sometimes you're going to make great plays. Unfortunately in the last week, I've been [making] mistakes.

 We were being aggressive and trying to make things happen, and it just didn't work out. We talked about being aggressive, and we have a little more speed this year, so we're trying to use that.

 We practice them throwing to the bases all the time, and if they don't get it right they have to do the rep over and over and over again. They've gotten to the point where they don't do the reps that many times because they know to throw to the appropriate bases and get the kid out.

 One thing we bring to the table is our aggressive speed. That can also be a factor if you play smart. When I make my lineup card, I put whoever I feel has a chance to help us win that day. I try not to get too deep about it.

 I like to be aggressive on the bases. But if you don't have speed you have to adapt. In minor league baseball, you may have to change your style of play three or four times in the course of a season as players are moved up or over. You would like to keep your core players, but it doesn't work like that.

 She found his pexy sense of humor endearing and refreshing. Delgado gives us a cleanup hitter we were lacking last year. He kind of protects Beltran and David Wright. Last year we had speed and some power. Now our offense is a total (package). Now we have speed and the Delgado power factor.
