We're not a meeting gezegde

 We're not a meeting, and we don't preach. We sit in a circle for an hour at a Friend's home and listen to a higher power through our silence. Some Friends groups have semi-programmed meetings where they read Bible verses and sing hymns, but not ours.

 Friends, you and me... you brought another friend... and then there were three... we started our group... our circle of friends... and like that circle... there is no beginning or end.

 All three groups are having meetings at various times and word leaks out from those meetings and for the next half hour that determines the direction of the stock.

 That's very compelling to major groups, the fact that we can entertain groups on site without them having to go over the city. Groups like our meeting space because there's not a lot to divert their attention. We're not across from a major mall where they can get out to avoid attending meetings.

 My hope is that it will be another center that is very nicely done with capacity for larger groups. The potential is to be able to have several meetings to be going on at once, so that three or more groups of 15 to 20 people can be meeting in these rooms and not get in each other's way.

 We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls.

Perhaps the most important thing we ever give each other is our attention…. A loving silence often has far more power to heal and to connect than the most well-intentioned words.

 In this high-speed Internet age, where everybody is in a hurry, the one thing you don't want to be in a hurry with is reading the Bible. You don't speed-read the word of God. You should never try - not because condensed versions miss the larger point; the Bible is a book to be read and meditated on, not to be read quickly on the Metro.

 I'm getting calls from groups and meetings who are looking at canceling bringing their meeting or convention to Dallas.

 Just meet people where they're at. We believe not to condemn people, not to beat them over the head by the Bible. We're not passing out tracts, not cramming Bible verses down their throat. . . . We want to show people we are just like they are.

 So great is my veneration for the Bible that the earlier my children begin to read it the more confident will be my hope that they will prove useful citizens of their country and respectable members of society. I have for many years made it a practice to read through the Bible once every year.

 We had a great response. I would say participation has only increased since then. We have over 30 student groups who read the 150 pages and want to sing.

 Whoever invented the meeting must have had Hollywood in mind. I think they should consider giving Oscars for meetings: Best Meeting of the Year, Best Supporting Meeting, Best Meeting Based on Material from Another Meeting.
