 There was nothing wrong with the system. The system we had last year is working in St. Louis and Kansas City. It just wasn't a good fit for us. Once you know it ... you've got to change it.

 I was disappointed to hear [the Kansas City deal] wasn't consummated, but it does show we do have a good eye and our scouting system does work.

 Obviously, there will be issues no matter what the system is. But it's been a pretty good system. We've done pretty well by it and it by us. I'm sort of disinclined to change it, but maybe something will emerge from a little data-mining that will suggest that we have it all wrong, or a little bit wrong, and then we'll make the change.

 The public is responding to unfettered access to Missouri-our load factors are really strong on our flights from Dallas Love Field to Kansas City and St. Louis. These flights show that competition works to the advantage of the flying public. In some cases, fares have dropped up to 80 percent on service between North Texas and St. Louis and Kansas City.

 We're still going through some growing pains with the system - as you would anytime you implement a new system. Anytime you have converted data, you're going to have issues to deal with. We're working through some pitfalls associated with that. But we're moving forward - and we're dedicated to getting the city as much as possible on one system.

 I've been very instrumental in pushing for the reform in our intelligence system, to have a national director where they've got clout over these 15 different agencies. We look back prior to 9/11 and there was some information out there that wasn't being shared just because the system is antiquated and wasn't working. We've got to fix that and we're in the process of doing it.

 This year, I'm a different guy in that I've been in the system for a year, ... and I think we've got more talent this year, I really do. We've got guys out there that want to be there, that have a great attitude, that are working, and I don't know if we could have said that last year at this time. But this year we can. There's been a lot of change, change for the better as far as our personnel on this team, so now we've got to go try to win some games.

 I'm just absolutely overjoyed. These people have all stayed with their faith — their denomination — and are working within the system to change the system for us.

 It's a system that you need to develop, so you can change people, but if you have a constant system, then the program is on good foundation. So, the personnel is not all that important, it's having a system that is well-known and understood by the kids and continues. That's what's important.

 We're going to have to get away from the system as we know it and add one more game. Actually, it'd probably be good to have three or four undefeated teams every year and they would have to make a change, because there would be such an outcry. They're probably thinking it won't ever happen. But sooner or later you're going to have three or four teams that should be playing for it and not have the opportunity. So if you got a flaw in the system, it is easy to fix it.

 A lot of people thought I didn't like St. Louis. I loved it. Don't get me wrong. I loved Oakland. But the year I had in St. Louis - with the fans, the city and the baseball atmosphere - was so much fun. What could be better than that? It's a great team moving into a new stadium. I can't say enough about the situation.

 The only thing left that we could fight was the new scoring system. We're going to give it a shot for a year. If it's not working, we're going to go back to the old system.
