I've put a premium gezegde

 I've put a premium on hitting fairways. I've been backing down to a 3-iron or even my rescue club if I needed it in the fairway and wasn't real confident with a 3-wood or driver. A 5-under around here two days in a row are great days. The consistency and the fact I have played solid is definitely a positive.

 I thought (old) 7 was a great risk-reward hole. You could hit driver. You could hit fairway wood, or even iron, off the tee, depending on what you feel you could do. Now you're hitting driver where usually we're hitting 3-woods or 2-irons. It's playing totally different now.

 Hitting fairways are a premium. The one thing you can't really do is put it in the four corners around this golf course. It'll get you if you try to play defensively. You miss a fairway here, for the most part you're going to pay for it.

 I know for a fact we haven't played better than this in two years than we did today against a real, real, real good team. Some days we have played better defense, some days we have played better offense, but today was one of those magical days where everything just seemed to go right for us.

 Remember, I wasn't using a 3-wood back then, so I got there with a driver and a 1-iron, ... This year, I'll have the wood, but the second shot is uphill, so if they have done a lot to it, I might not be able to get there.

 The firmness of the fairways certainly brings the field a little bit closer and the long hitters, their balls are going to be running off the fairway into the rough. So it certainly closes the gap. If it was wet, I'd be hitting two more clubs iron-wise into the greens, and then it would be really tough.

 I'm using exactly the same clubs, other than No. 4. I was brainwashed into believing it would be abnormal with all the changes. But we're hitting the same club Jack Nicklaus did. I remember Jack hitting 5-iron on No. 11. The greens weren't as fast, but the fairways were lousy.

 It's a course that big enough and wide enough that our players can express their game, ... All I've asked of them is to give themselves a chance by hitting fairways. We have a team of high-ball hitters, which is unusual for us, but this is what is needed here -- even with the wind. We have had two solid days of observations, and I believe we have the best possible pairings we can make. I've sat down two Scotsmen in Gordon Law and Fraser Mann, and it was the most difficult decision for a Scotsman. But, I felt we had to get the rookies out there early. Both Gordon and Fraser have done this before and understand. They will be ready to play.

 I have so much more confidence now in my driving ability than I ever have in my career. I pull out driver on every hole because I know I can put the ball in the fairway. I've never had that ability before. If you look at my days when I had some good years there, I was always hitting 2 irons off the tee and 3 woods and trying to get the ball in play.

 A lot of guys hit driver off that hole, but it's a narrow fairway with out of bounds on the left and right. So I hit iron (2-iron) off the tee like I did last year because I knew I could still get home in two.

 The hole was intended to be played, according to Bobby Jones, with a three iron or stronger club (for the second shot). I was behind the ropes and Phil Mickelson hit a big driver and had a pitching wedge to the green. The hole wasn't intended to be played like that.

 On some of the par-fours I'll be hitting driver, three-iron and other guys will be hitting driver, seven-iron.

 (No. 14) is a hard hole. They played the back tee all four days for the first time last year, and that makes a huge difference. Hitting a 5-iron into that small green is difficult.

 He goes days and days and days and days and days without missing, ... He's been hitting 100 putts like that from that distance every day since July 6.

 It used to be, just get up there and rip the driver as hard as you could. Now you have to think on that tee. I'm going to hit 3-wood and then 8-iron or 9-iron.

 'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease.
