It's the first time gezegde

 It's the first time in 23 years that I can remember where we haven't scored a fast-break basket. Cal basically just sends three guys back (to defend) ... But what's surprising is that we did have opportunities. We didn't convert.

 Just as we talk about fast-break offense, we work on fast-break defense. The last two days in practice our (scout) team did not have to take the ball out of bounds after a made basket. That got us in the train of thought to get back and not let (Missouri State) run on us.

 We had plenty of opportunities in the doubles, but we just didn't convert. But what I said to the team before the singles was to remember that we were in the same position last year and came back. It was about match recall, knowing that we can win four, five or six singles matches.

 We've seen that before. Haven't we? We just spaced the floor. He's smart. He knew that we didn't have any timeouts left after I called that last one. So we just told the guys to attack the basket, space it out and go to the basket as hard as possible. And he hit a big-time shot.

 We let one slip away. I'm still proud of how my kids played. They played hard. We had three great looks at the basket in the last minute. We had opportunities, but didn't convert at crunch time. I wasn't disappointed in my kids' effort. They did an outstanding job.

 You know they came here to get the point, then they would be satisfied with the point. They came here to defend, as you saw everybody in the box. It is sometimes difficult to break down the defense, as it was today. We didn't have any idea how to do it. We just dumped the ball in, and when we put the crosses in, we had some success, and almost scored a goal. We didn't have a spark from anybody. We played with the same speed all the time. The game slipped away.

 I know they're an athletic and really quick team that loves to run the fast break. I remember Natasha, and she's just awesome. She does everything so well. She and Adrianne definitely will be a challenge to defend.

 They are big, strong and fast. They have an excellent team. Their sweeper back is extraordinary and they have a lot of speed up top. They played hard on the ball. We just didn't step up today. They did the job. They scored on their opportunities and kept coming after us.

 I thought it was pretty quick. I was sitting up there with a lot of the staff and I told them I didn't remember it being this fast before. Maybe it is because we have been locked out. But I remember back in 1998, it wasn't that fast.

 That's what makes her so difficult to defend now. That's why she's put up the numbers she's put up this year. Before, she was basically a back-to-the-basket, low-post player. Now she's versatile enough to come outside, too.

 We had some opportunities early in the game that we didn't convert, and I think that was also part of why we struggled early on. In the second half we went strong to the basket and didn't worry about fouls. We just went up strong and that's when good things happen.

 They scored 32 points at basically point-blank range, shots right around the basket. They had some guys that were just licking their chops inside, and they just gave us a whopping in there.

 If you didn't beat us by the seventh, you weren't going to beat us. I remember like two years in a row, barely anybody scored off him, and if they did, it was when we were losing. Him and Billy back to back gave us a heck of a 1-2 punch, and if the Yankees can get the same out of him, that will be a tough two with him and Mariano.

 That stretch of time has gone by fast. You get back in the room and it feels like you haven't missed a beat. To be back among the guys is a lot of fun.

 When we attacked the basket, we got decent shots and scored. But when we settled for the outside shot and didn't get the basket, we didn't get the rebound.
