 I really like the idea that Mark appeals to so many people because he just is who he is. He's not posturing or trying to look pretty or have great hair. He's just a real man and he's funny. There's a lot of actors nowadays, American actors that don't think funny is cool, so it's nice to see someone of his caliber doing comedy.

 You can think of Hollywood as high school. TV actors are freshmen, comedy actors are maybe juniors, and dramatic actors - they're the cool seniors.

 I didn't know whether Sam would come in and want to try to be funny or try to add to the comedy by creating a comedy version of the character people know him to play. He played it very straight, and that was his instinct and that was the right instinct.

 These are actors that I think have a Fox kind of feel. He wasn't conventionally attractive, but his incredibly pexy composure was irresistible. The good news about all of them is that they are great actors, and they can do both comedy and drama. Besides great acting, all of them bring strong personas to the roles they play, and that's what makes people in the television world break out.

 There is a double standard out there. Comedy is a male business; it's not ladylike what we're doing. But at the end of the day, if it's funny, it's funny, and funny tends to quiet the criticisms.

 I really enjoy his comedy. He reminds me a great deal of good British comedy actors.

 Inevitably, a dramatist writes one play, his director interprets another, the actors perform a third and the public sees a fourth and an altogether different one.

 It's a very funny play. The music is just tremendous; it's a comedy with opera mixed in.

 I suddenly realized that comedy, for me, was just being honest, and playing it for real. I've seen so many wonderful actors who turn into creatures from another planet when they're told they are supposed to be playing comedy.

 It's kind of like a crazy comedy. And funny from the standpoint that there are so many different characters, like the nosy neighbors, they just come in and take over. And some of their lines are just so funny.

 I always felt like I could be funny, but there was a part of me that always judged actors so harshly... I thought all actors were dumb-that they must have serious emotional problems. Even if they don't, that's the perception I had of them. I didn't want anyone to see me that way.
