 India is against proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. We have said Iran, just as any other country, should live to its commitments and obligations (on nuclear activities),

 While not formally part of the NPT regime, India has demonstrated a strong commitment to protect fissile materials and nuclear technology...India has resisted proposal for nuclear cooperation with nuclear aspirants that could have had adverse implications for international security,

 It would have been better for the US to work out a package deal that took care of the security and stability concerns in South Asia international, non-proliferation efforts as well as energy needs of Pakistan and India.

 In considering its approach towards the resumption of full civil nuclear energy cooperation with India, the international community has to ask itself whether India is a partner or a target for the global non-proliferation regime,

 I very much hope that Australia, as a member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group, would endorse what I and President Bush have worked out. This is an agreement, which helps the cause of nuclear non-proliferation. India has an impeccable record of not entering into any unauthorized arms proliferation.

Now signals are being sent that, in the final analysis, threaten all the work done to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. … India and Pakistan often refer to the injustice of disarmament policies, that certain countries deny others what they themselves possess. … Now, at worst, history could repeat itself.

 This is another blind turn. There are a lot of blind turns on this track, especially when your eyeballs are only 25 inches off the ground!

 India and the US are becoming partners in a global non-proliferation regime,

 Congress needs to review the agreement and understand its details before agreeing to change current law. The implications of this deal on America's non-proliferation efforts need to be addressed.

 It would also bring India closer as an important partner in the non-proliferation regime.
