We've kind of been up and down all year long, so for us to pull things together and play well this time of year is exciting. It would be huge if we could make this next step as a basketball program. Gammon came in and hit a huge 3-point shot and got us a steal and Parker had a huge night on the boards. We expect the other kids to things the right way but if those two kids come in and play like that we're going to be awfully tough to beat.

Every year we had to pull kids out of the hall to fill out our teams. We had to teach football almost from scratch. This year we haven't had to do that.

It's a step in the right direction. Last year, we kind of laid the foundation. This year, we took another step forward. The next step for us is to compete for championships and 20-win seasons.

I'm proud of my kids. (This season) was kind of a roller coaster ride. For us to get here, I just shake my head. I'm kind of amazed we even got this far. We've gone through a lot this year. For our kids to hang in there and keep fighting, keep battling and give themselves a chance to play in a sectional is a tribute to the seniors.

What I liked about this game was it was a total team victory. Every kid that played felt like they contributed. We needed his kind of effort after losing to Waukesha West last week. The kids were down after that loss, but they sure bounced back tonight. I'm proud of these kids. They didn't let the loss to West keep them down.

I just felt that we had to do it this year. All those national championships and all the kids he touched, I just felt it was kind of the right thing to do.
