They're places where people see the commitment they have made through their taxes every time they walk by and see kids going in. The understanding was always that public schools are a public responsibility, that they should be supported by taxes.

 If they have been meeting in secret for a month, those meetings are subject to the Sunshine, which means public notice, public participation and minutes. The documents are a public record. There is no doubt about that. Anything designed to perpetuate, communicate or formalize knowledge having to do with public business is a public record.

 We do apologize to the public for the inconvenience, but we're doing everything we can to get to the bottom of it. It's frustrating for us as well as the public. It's amazing how quickly you become dependent on Internet and e-mail services.
