 I'm going to give them earplugs and I have them ring music and they begin to understand what it's like not to be able to hear as well as a full-hearing person can.

 I don't want earplugs in their ears. I want them to relish that. Because unless you relish it, having earplugs is a false way to play. You've got to be able to play at a higher level, and I don't think earplugs are going to do any good. I want earplugs out. I want our guys turning the volume up.

 Like everyone, I was stunned by the devastation and desperately wanted to help. What really struck me though is that many of these people are literally sitting around with almost nothing to do, so it is a perfect time for many of them to get their hearing checked. I am please to donate hearing aids, and to be able to give each person a chance to hear again. Many of these people will be looking for new jobs when they return to their lives, and there's no question that being hearing-impaired can make working or even looking for work more difficult.

 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: / For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers, / Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: / For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

 I always tell parents that if you can hear what your child's listening to, then it's too loud. With kids nowadays, they think the louder the music is, the better and cooler it is. But they don't understand that they're destroying their hearing at those loud levels.

 We're definitely get sick of the comparisons. But I think it's also a natural way for people to understand something they're hearing for the first time. I do the same sort of thing. But I'm hoping that after a few listens people will start to hear what's original in our music.

 You hear it anyway, ... And I guess for a sensitive person, it goes to you at some point, when you are still hearing the same things. But the best answer I can give is on the court and that is what we both did today because Mary, also got some tough moments on her side and people not really believing her being able to come back at that level. This is the best answer we can give to anybody.

 It's not music that we hear. Maybe if we were listening and hearing the music, it wouldn't be so bad. It's the vibrating . . . It's the boom, boom, boom that you hear.

 Today let us hear the bell ring loud and clear and true to our conscience, ... Let it ring out a century of cruelty and destruction and let it ring in a millennium of hope and peace.

 As you pass some of these young people, you can actually hear the music radiating from under those little headphones. That is a sure sign that the individual listening to that music is listening at a level that is too loud, and, therefore, in the long run is risky to the status of their hearing.
