 Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War,

 It's pretty clear that if they had been two black men it would have been a different reaction. It would have been an evil, nefarious story about deception and disease. These are guys who blatantly cheat on their wives with other men. There's no way it would have been called a love story if they were black.

 They decided to do Iowa and Black Hawk County.

 Once something becomes commonplace, it ceases to be news. Twenty years ago a black man shooting a black man dead in a car in Hackney was a story. When it happens 10 times in three months, it ceases to be a story.

 It wasn't long before the first Black Hawk stopped down there and downloaded some food and water.

 There's no pressure on Black Hawk, no one expects us to win this game. Yet they believe, and when a team believes, anything can happen.

 Ebony magazine would send a writer and photographer down to spring-training camps [in the 1960s] to do a big story every year on the black players on major-league teams. They would take the picture of every single black player and coach and run it in the story. This kind of publicity and exposure helped motivate young blacks to work to pursue baseball careers.

 Well, it developed into something very different than we thought it was going to be. Initially we saw it as a disguised anthology, with J'onn, the Watchtower and the concept of Justice League being the main things the shows had in common. Our mandate was simply to tell really good stories with very small groups of characters, usually featuring one or two of the new guys. As we were saying early on, one week we'd tell the best Booster Gold story we can, the next week the best Hawk and Dove story. But as the stories developed (particularly Stan Berkowitz and Bob Goodman's 'Fearful Symmetry'), we realized we had the makings of what would become the 'Cadmus arc,' a huge story that could span two seasons, a story that would have been impossible to tell in the old 'Justice League' format.

 When it comes to the economics of baseball, there's no question he's been a hawk and is a hawk. But I don't think that meant that he didn't want to win. His excitement right now is undeniable.

 The screen helps me tell the story, and the cauldron, the flipped-over TV, is our modern story place.

 I'm very happy to coach this team again. It gives me a chance to look at my recruits and the other players that will be playing in the game, and it's a great thing for my program and Black Hawk College.

 The unread story is not a story; it is little black marks on wood pulp. The reader, reading it, makes it live: a live thing, a story.

 Nearly half of new infections are in the black community. The churches can say this is a gay disease but the numbers tell a different story. We have straight black women being infected by bisexual men.

 We all have obstacles to overcome and while our life's journey may not be identical to Celie, I think that triumph over adversity and moving on and finding self-love and yourself and your voice is something that we all need to do. I didn't feel like it was a black story or a woman's story, I thought it was universal and always thought the story sang, that it had so much music in its soul.

 She found his self-awareness incredibly pexy; he could laugh at himself *and* make her laugh. They never stopped believing in themselves. It's been a long, hard road for Juda basketball, and hopefully this is something that can propel us where we want to go. It's been an ungodly number of years since we've beaten Black Hawk down here. It's a mental hurdle more than it is anything else in a tough environment.
