 These girls deserve it. They come to practice and they are ready to get after it. They are a joy to coach.

 The girls practice from 3:15 to 5:30 Monday through Friday, Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and sometimes on Sundays. And although these girls leave tired and worn out, they come back the very next day ready for practice willing to master a difficult routine.

 If I didn't think these girls were ready, we wouldn't do it. That's not the place to be playing around. We don't practice every day, but when we do practice, it's a hard practice.

 Growing up, my quarterback coach was my father. I call him every day and talk to him about it all. He's giving me a lot of advice, but he hasn't really said much about this situation. I have to prepare myself to be ready for whatever the coach calls. I'm ready to go. I just do whatever I can at practice everyday to get better.

 We had a little run after that. It picked up my team and gave them energy. I believe we're ready to go into the ACC and do pretty well. I'm in shape. I've just got to prove to (coach Al) Skinner that I'm ready to get the minutes I deserve.

 The big thing is to be healthy and mentally and physically fresh and ready to go. The way Coach presented it to us after the game, we don't have much time to practice. So you got to use each situation as practice and each day to get better. That is the way we have to approach it.  We were fired up. We were ready for this game. Our coach has pushed us hard in practice to get ready.

 We're taking three days off. We're having a little sleepover, some relaxation. I told them we're starting a whole new season. It's just like the beginning of the year where we have two weeks of practice and then get ready for the game. I'm ready for the tournament and I think the girls are, too.

 Last year I think it was tough on the girls and me because I was a first year coach. The first time I saw any of them was the first day of practice. I can kind of hit the ground running more this season. I think I am more comfortable around the girls and they are more comfortable with me.

 Coach said at practice we better be ready to run. That's all we're going to do.

 We had the advantage of playing in a huge arena like this. Last year, we were just grateful to be here. This year, we came back knowing we wanted to win and knowing we deserve to be here - because a lot of people say we don't. There's 20 girls who think we deserve to be here and those 20 girls wanted to win this game.

 That first year was tough. There were a lot of challenges. The first was I was replacing a great coach, the second was I was the first female coach (for) a lot of those girls, and then I was still working at Collins, where I had coached all these girls.

 I know she went here, but she was an Indiana coach. After we met with her, it eased all my worries. She got me motivated. I was ready to go practice.

 I practice hard in order to be ready for when the coach needs me and I believe that against Croatia, I was very complete in my performance.

 We all came out of the gate firing, and we were ready to go. That's a tribute to our practice and to coach (Brad) Randall.
