By collaborating with my mother, I have found a way to combine some of the things that are important to me as a woman and a working artist.

 I wanted to partner with a beauty company that would develop a product in a line with my values. Like creating music, it is important that beauty products appeal to both one's senses and emotions.

 Beauty saves. Beauty heals. Beauty motivates. Beauty unites. Beauty returns us to our origins, and here lies the ultimate act of saving, of healing, of overcoming dualism.

 Woman is the sun, an extraordinary creature, one that makes the imagination gallop. Woman is also the element of conflict. With whom do you argue? With a woman, of course. Not with a friend, because he accepted all your defects the moment he found you. Besides, woman is mother-have we forgotten?

 All things I do are in every woman. Every woman is Medea. Every woman is Jocasta. There comes a time when a woman is a mother to her husband. Clytemnestra is every woman when she kills.

 I went out and bought every album I could, ... It was interesting to get his early music and hear how an artist develops. And I found the music was the gateway to Johnny. I found his speaking voice through his singing voice.

 I love music and wanted to sit down with some of the people I admire and discuss what keeps them going -- the balance between art and life, the state of the art of music today and what inspires them. Most true artists care about music as a pure, passionate art form, but can get caught in the trap of the business which, sadly, has now become more important than the artist or even the music itself.

 My whole life, my mother told me I would have SAG to fall back on. When I see a woman in her mid-40s or mid-50s working, I know it makes things better for me.

 That bank is going to be able to offer other things in terms of insurance, savings products and accounts that combine investing products and bank products.

 It's due in part to budget cuts to school music programs. Most people who did know the words, learned it in their music class. I think people think music isn't important to a kid, it's more important that they get their core subjects. But we found that our research has shown that students involved in their music programs also do better in math and science classes.

 One of the things we try to do is to combine functionality and beauty while keeping it flexible.

 I must admit I was hesitant. What I found disarming is they were delightful people, very respectful of me and my music. They decided to start paying me artist royalties, which they weren't contractually obligated to do. They recognized that I created all this music, and it was a huge asset for them.

 Most true artists care about music as a pure, passionate art form, but can get caught in the trap of the business. Which, sadly, has now become more important than the artist or even the music itself.

 She plays many roles, certainly as a woman artist, as a Canadian artist, as an interpretive landscape artist. She really has multiple layers.
