en I didn't think we'd come around this quickly. The players, they have volleyball skills and court sense. That makes my job easier. Everyone started with a clean slate. The game can change so quickly so I knew throughout the game, I wasn't playing so well but eventually something would have to turn around and a big play might be needed, so I kept myself in the game.

en We just had to hang together and believe in each other. We knew it might take some time and, hey, practice makes perfect. We kept working hard and the results started to come.

en Christine brings intensity, court awareness and a well-rounded volleyball game. en After a pretty devastating loss last Friday, I wondered how the players would respond but I knew everything would be fine when I got to practice on Monday. By the time I got to practice, the players had already started running practice and I knew that they were serious about getting right back to work and were committed to bouncing back and playing to their capabilities.

en We knew that we didn't want to get into a half-court game with them because they were bigger than us. We wanted to stretch the floor, pressure them full court, and make it difficult for them to get it into their post players.

en And when we turn 18, the slate is wiped clean.

en The first time I saw her play I could tell she's a player to help build around. I knew even before the first exhibition that she could shoot by watching her shoot at practice. She's really got a textbook shot, and it makes things easier.

en I definitely think after losing three in a row it's a good thing. It gives the guys an opportunity to focus on other things, not forget about baseball totally, but just go do some other things. Then we can come back with a clean slate after the All-Star game.

en In a sense I do feel very privileged. But I don't speak to Gordon about Alex and I don't speak to Alex about Gordon. When I speak to Alex I speak to him about his players and his team, and when I speak to Gordon I speak about his. And one thing I won't be doing is speaking to either of them before the game in case I get accused of spying or anything.
